well, finished my first 20 rounds of 338 lapua.turned out pretty awesome.untill i looked at my scale and found that i had put 70.3 grains of
imr 7828 instead of 73 grains as a starter load.300 grain sie hpbt bullet.i know its not ideal, but is it an issue to shoot? thx again
grant.

If 70 grs is your start load from a reputable source the. 3 gr.extra won't make any difference in a case that big.

Assuming everything else is fine, a powder charge below the recommended starting load is not a safety issue. It may or may not shoot well but 3 grains under minimum is pretty light.

Ok, hopefully you're still watching the thread. What weight bullet have you loaded up? I'm guessing its a 300gr bullet by the 70gr powder charge, If not you could be to far under minimum loading and it could result in a very unpleasant hangfire in a case that large. Also, why load your first 20 rounds at the same charge weight? If it were me I'd be loading the first 20 at .5gr increments spanning the min-max range to get a feel for where max actually is. At the same time you should be looking for the first signs of where the accuracy nodes are going to show themselves. Top accuracy is usually found at near max charges, which is likely 15gr higher than that load. And totally disregard taking them apart, .3gr when you don't know what the rifle even likes, combined with being that light a charge, makes zero difference.

If you were shooting something cheaper I would say just shoot away.

Because it's a 338LM you might want to pull them apart, especially because you have 20 made. Parts are not cheap for this.... but 70 grains vs 73 grains won't make a difference as far as safety is concerned.
