Hey everyone! I just got a lee reloading kit for Christmas and I am new to the reloading scene. A friend of mine mentioned about getting a lock and load bushing kit from hornady for my lee kit to make life easier. So far my research hasn’t found anything on the lee kit being able to use the bushing system. So my question is will it work?
Thanks

If memory serves correct, Lee has its own locking ring mechanism as an add-on product to easily exchange out dies with their settings in tack.
I would assume your kit comes with a reloading manual, if it only comes with a small booklet, I would recommend heading to the store and getting a larger manual. Any of the major brands will do and they all include the basic educational and historical contexts followed by load data. I had the hornady book when I started off and it was great, I only bought other manuals to expand align with my expanding powder reserves as I started reloading the last time we saw large shortages so I had to pick up various powders at the time based on availability.

Overall I would focus on learning the basics and getting the motions right. Then look at ways to make things easier, like the tools your friend refered you to. Slow and steady wins the race and reloading can be quite an enjoyable experience.

True very true. You are right I agree. I should just sick to the basics and see how it goes. My fiend was just throwing things out here at me and I was just curious. Appreciate all the info it will be benifical for sure.

Yes learn to reload first then buy doodads that make it easier or faster for you.

If you go too complicated too soon in my experience you will either never figure put how to use your press, make huge mistakes and blow up your gun or never even use your press and quit reloading before you get started..

I've seen all 3 of these things quite a few times.

You can learn to reload from the instructions, or from online videos, but I found that the best way was to have an experienced reloader show me the ropes. I learned more from him in an afternoon that I would learn myself in a year.

The lee 50th kit comes with a breech lock press, so yes buy a few extra bushings. They allow for quick change out of your dies without having to reset them to the correct depth. I would also suggest a quick trim die for the calibers you would like to load for and I would buy the upgrade cutter ass'y for the value trim ( it chamfers in the inside and outside of the case neck) while you trim to the correct length.
A few other things that lee doesn't give you...... buy a few loading trays or make them from a block of wood with a drill, a bullet puller is a worthwhile piece of equipment you will need it. And most importantly buy a good manual and read it twice before you reload one bullet. If you need information on how or what your lee equipment does they have videos on their website and YouTube can be a good reference source.
Beware of YouTube there some guys that show things on there that really don't have a clue, like when a guy grabs a handful of primers barehanded and rolls them around in his finger tips and starts to load bullets. That's a no no.

Good luck and have fun reloading is a great hobby. Just be ready to say goodbye to your wallet. There is an endless list of cool tools you can buy if you so desire. I would suggest that other than the few items listed above use what you have in the kit to get started decide what you like or don't like. After you gain some experience you can buy add ons or extras as you wish.
