New to Reloading

Hi, Is there anyone who's willing to teach me or show me some tricks on reloading. I want to start handloading 308s for my M14 and my T3, but I have no one I know who does it.

Also, any one know any guides that will be good for me to learn from?
 
first two books I will recommend is Modern Reloading by #### Lee and The ABC's of Reloading by Dean Grennel (now by Rodney James). Get these at a minimum. You can Never have enough info on this. I have 15 or so...and I use them. Also make sure to get a good bullet manual. I like Sierra and Hornady. Don't have much use for the Barnes book since I don't use their bullets and they don't have data for anything but their bullets, but someday I might go on a hunt of a lifetime and need that data...
Lyman's Reloading manuals are another must have.

And post your location, for crying out loud. My help i s available, but makes it kind of useless if I am 3000km away. Kind of hard to get the "hands on".
 
ABCs of Reloading is one of the best general introduction to reloading and is probably the best place to start. There are two 'problems' with it, IMHO. The first is that it does have a few minor technical errors, but these are esoteric enough that they can be ignored. The second is that it doesn't contain any specific loading data, which means that you will - will - need a reloading manual to actually do it safely yourself. Neither of these means it's a bad book. Far from it; it's excellent. Just don't buy it expecting that it'll complete your reloading library.

Any of the major component makers' reloading manuals can be trusted and they will all walk you through the reloading process, like a cook book. I would not however trust any load data you find online, at least not until you have enough experience to tell the difference between good data produced by an experienced and knowledgeable person and dangerous garbage produced by an enthusiastic idiot.

I just ordered the ABCs of Reloading book.

I'll need to get those others you guys mentioned. Factory .44 magnum is a rip-off.
 
yup, like other mentioned, ABC's of reloading is a very good staring point and after that i would suggest getting several manuals, Lyman and Lee are good ones to start off with since they provide information from several manufacturers.
if you would like some one to show you some hands on tricks and tips it would help if you mention where you are located.

if your in my neck of the woods i would be glad to show some basics.
 
Equipment? You can be reloading for not much more than $100. From there, it depends entirely on how many body parts you want to sell.

With a Lee Loader and a hammer, you can turn out perfectly good ammo. In return for much lower cost, you invest a bit more time and elbow grease.

A starter kit from one of the major manufacturers will have a single press, scales, lube equipment and so forth. That's sort of entry level above Lee Loaders (you cannot upgrade from Lee Loader to this, BTW).

Then you can add other stuff such as an automatic primer feed, case trimmers, etc. You won't need those initially, but will soon realize their benefit.

Top-end is a 'progressive' setup, in which you are kindasorta into factory production. Every time you pull the handle, a complete round drops out. Very cool, very efficient, very expensive.
