New to reloading.

I own a 300 RSAUM and am considering reloading my own rounds.

I am looking at a lee load kit, any thoughts.....will I get results close to factory rounds?

In terms of dies what all do i need? Do I need a neck, full lentgh size, and seating die? is their other dies i need?

I found that RCBS makes the 300 RSAUM dies will those work with the lee system? Lee doesnt make them.

I have about a $250 budget here to get set up.

I would take a pass , just shooting one gun and one caliber. I shall not spend money and your budget is so low. Reloading is addictive and leads to serious shooting behaviors and bankruptcies occasionally - Biggs

Most dies are 7/8" thread and work in most presses. The RCBS dies will work in a Lee Press and vice versa. Big stuff like .50 BMG is a different story.

Reloading or Handloading should give results comparable to or better than factory ammo never worse unless something is wrong with the process.

I would buy the Lee 50th kit and RCBS dies, Full Length Sizing is the way to start then in the future you could try neck sizing for your bolt action rifle. You will need a seater die too and if you can get FL, Neck and Seater in one set go for it. Also you will need the shellholder that fits this case (RCBS 38 I think) to hold the case in the press. You also will need a manual with data for your calibre (Lyman 49th) and general reloading info, a digital calipre to measure case length (Canadian Tire or Home Depot) and a way to trim cases when they grow in length like a Lyman or Forster lathe type trimmer or a custom Lee case length gauge to use on the Lee trimmer in the kit.

The manual will give you an idea of powders primers and bullets you can select to reload your cases with.

Hodgdon Gun Powders website has a nice database with info for your calibre.

I have only been reloading for a year now and already I am able to make reloads that exceed the capabilities of and factory ammo I have ever put through my 9mm and .45.

I use the Lee turret press and Lee deluxe die set's. It was a great price with the start up kit, it has made thousands of rounds now and not failed yet, and I did not see it necessary to spend too much before I knew if I would like reloading.

What I love most about reloading is being able to make a variety of different ammo using all the same materiel (just tweaking OAL and powder will take your rounds from mild to wild).

Everyone is entitled to there opinion and this is just mine... I hope it helps!
