I just loaded up 30 .308 rounds using RL-15 for the first time. I heard some good stuff from a family member about it and it does have some promising data in some of the reloading manuals.

I used 44gr into .308 with cci 200 primers with hornady 165BTSP bullets.

I am hoping to get to the range tomorrow and will see how well they work..

So far as of range exp, BL-C2 has been mighty accurate with my rifle as well (700LTR), but i am curious to see how well the RL15 stacks up for hunting season.

here's some loading results from my friends 308, a Remington Model Seven with a 20" tube

165 gr. - Hornady Interbond, 45.0 grs. RL15, WLR ~ 2680 fps

168 gr. - Barnes TSX-bt @ 2.81", 44.0 grs RL15, F210M ~ 2578 fps

180 gr. - Nosler Accubond @ 2.81", 43.0 grs RL15, F210M ~ 2470 fps

200 gr. - Lapua Mega @ 2.72", 41.0 grs RL15, WLRM ~ 2290 fps

Well got out to the range today and tried out the new loads.

I was quite impressed with it, very impressed actually.. After zeroing it in, the round went right where it was pointed at.

I also fired some older loaded blc2 rounds and again, very very accurate as well.

I don't have a chronometer so I don't know how they differ velocity wise though.

I just starting using it in a 6BR rifle I had made and it is a great powder.
Barnard Action, Gaillard Bbl, 26"...28.8 grns was the tack driver so far.
Gave me 1/4" at 200 yds 3 shot group.

RE-15 has consistently beat other powders such as 4064, BL-C2, in several 308 rifles I have owned. Actually, I can say the same in 303 as well. I dont bother with other powders any more..

Howdy

I started using RL15 a couple of weeks ago. I had been using Varget, but I found it to be inconsistant. I would get a great group then a crappy one and a point of impact shift. Not a big shift, a half inch down, but still enough to miss the X ring. RL 15 gives me great groups, and when I do get a so so group, it's still at the point of aim. Bye bye Varget

I like RL 15 in my 300 Savage and my 35 Whelen. Consistent, accurate and good velocities. I shot the smallest group ever from my 300 Savage with the 150 Partition and 45 grains of RL 15. It measures 3.120 outside to outside making that a .040" group [3 shots at 100], and it is dead on desired point of impact. Regards. Eagleye.

is that load with? I have some but have never got to testing it with the 6BR. I am strictly using VV 135 and VV 140 at this time.

Todd; I am getting 2785, which is a killer load in the 300 Savage. I'm not sure I would do this in a 99Savage of early vintage, but in a 700 Remington, it doesn't even break sweat!! Similar performance with Vihtavuori N540, FWIW. Regards, Eagleye.
