New to shooting .308! Would like some economical suggestions

You eating about 800 pounds in a month? snicker.
Any factory ammo would require you to try a box to find out if your rifle likes it. That $1.50 per shot isn't unusual any more.
You really need to get into reloading. Makes shooting possible for a lot of people. Also lets you tailor the ammo to your rifle.

Was the corelokt the cheapest stuff they had?
Usually they have some .308 closer to $20.00 a box. Powershock etc.
