Hello Well I'm soon to be getting my license (soon can be 2-3months).
But I had a few questions.
1.Can you legally store ammo in your car at all times even if there are no firearms in it at all. The reason being is I still live with my parents ( not because I want to but hard times means you stick together) , and I cannot bring ammo into the house , but I can bring the guns in . So is it legal so long as I have them put in some vault for cars leashed to it.

2.If your rifle is to big for your vault can you store the action in the vault and the stock separate outside the vault. ex: removing the bolt from a bolt action.

3. I know I once beat this horse d:h: but to no answer. What is the limit on manual action rifles and shotguns can have in the tube or magazine above .22LR. I know it states semi autos are restricted to 5 and handguns to 10.

4. I live in Near orangeville , ON and I can't find a gun range within 40 min drive, Sure there is the isllington club but there very exclusive type club. The other has nothing but a trap range which is not of interest at this time. I'm just looking for a straight range to shoot at ( preferable indoor).

I'll answer what I can

1. I'm pretty sure you don't have to lock up ammo - it just has to be "kept apart from" your guns. In fact, one may argue that keeping it out in the car is adhering better to the law since it won't even be in the same building.

3. There is no limit on non-autoloading rifles and shotguns. Furthermore, there is no limit on RIMFIRE autoloading guns (so, yes, you can own a non-restricted 50-shot drum mag ruger 10/22 semi-automatic).

I'd like to hear an answer for #2 - very interesting question.

You can legally store ammo in the car so long as it is not visible (although with this record heat I would not advise it)

As long as the action is removed and not easily accessible, you may store your firearms out of the safe. This is tantamount to being rendered "unfireable" hence is the same as being trigger locked.

The legal restriction for rifles is 5 rounds for semi unless it is rimfire which has no limit. No limit on tube fed pump or lever actions
Restricted legal limit is 10. However restricted rifles are limited to 5 rounds unless you have the LAR15 mags which are for AR's, then maximum is 10

Good luck with securing a range. I wonder if Barrie is close to you. They have wonderful facilities, indoor and outdoor.

Well I actually went to the Barrie gun club for my safety course. If I was within 40 min I would do it but I'm 71km out from it one way and that is a serious drive if I want to go 1 or 2 times a week and my car is not Brand new and has some slight issues and it would need to be more efficient for that kind of drive but thanks anyhow.
