bought my first shot gun and a clay pigeon thrower.

The thrower is the kind that sits on the ground, you manual #### the throwing arm and use a string to release the spring and it chucks the clay.

Anyways, my gun is a pump 28 inch browning BPS 12 gauge. I was using the IC choke and using 2 3/4 shells and 3 inch shells today.. I have no idea what shells to use ideally, but I did really well according to the guy I went with who has done it lots before. I'd hit 8 or 9 out of 10 clays.

Anyways, ideally what shells should I be buying for clays? What shot size etc..

And I'd like my gf to give it a shot, what shells for a 12 gauge would she be most comfortable shooting as far as low recoil is concerned??

Thanks! First time today and I had a blast

Find some Federal Top Gun, Remington Gun Club, or similar target loads in 2-3/4 dram loads, in #8 or #9 shot size. You should be able to find them at a good price by the flat.(250 rounds) And when you start to get bored, go to a real skeet or sporting clays field and have some real fun.

There are feather lite shells available from Winchester. Ask for them at your local gunshop.
Where are you? There are lots of ranges around. Try sporting clays if you like variety. Trap and skeet if you like consistency

thanks for the advice.. Honestly I was doing pretty good I think with the cheapest 2 3/4 shells the store had.. Although they were lead, and I've rather spit steel in the air.. The 3 inch shells I had were steal..

I'll look for the feather lights for the girl friend thank you.

I'm happy with the thrower I have now.. I'm sure I'll end up trying sporting clays etc.. I'm in northern AB so I'd have to drive a bit for a real shooting experience.
