New to shotguns

Hi. I am new to shotguns aside from my .410 doubles.
I can shoot grouse that are still but give em a good scare if they're flying.

I'd like to pick up a 20g semi to practice on clays until I'm happy enough with my skill level to move onto flying birds (grouse, the neighbors peasants, ducks etc.)
Does it make sense for me to start with a Turkish semi and move on the a beretta? Are the turk guns good or garbage?
I'm looking at gas guns in sub gauges specifically as my bones don't take much without cracking (past medication).
Any suggestions on which guns to look at or stay clear from?

If you can afford it skip the turkish guns and find a good used beretta a400. Extremely soft shooting gun thats well built
If its nit in the budget the charles daly semi 20ga i have has been flawless and fairly soft shooting for its weight.
An 1100 is a great choice but weighs more than the beretta a400 or charles daly 601
 
A beretta A 300 outlander 1100-1400$ best auto value on the market or used sx 2 , sx3 sx 4 900-1200$
As far a Rem 1100 gun in its day no screw in choke value 350 -450 $ with chokes 450- 650 .
I would look for a clean 11/87 650-800
Personally I would stay away from Turkish guns I know people speak the world of them but they are disposable guns and at 800-1100 $’s many better buys out there

I'll second the Charles Daly 601 20ga recommendation. You barely feel it when shooting slugs and turkey loads. That's with a +- 6lbs gun too!

Just to be a little different.
I would go with an 870 Wingmaster and a modified choke until you get the swing down on those fast flushing birds.
My early experience with an 1100 was that if I missed on the first and second shot wasnt much better the third shot was a hail marry out of frustration ;)
Yes, the 1100 is a very good choice if it is a must have.
Once you get onto the swing speed of those faster Willey Birds you'll be filling the game bag !

Can you direct me to a 20ga beretta a300 outlander in canada please?
 
If you think you'll eventually land with a beretta, just start there if you can. Get what you want and enjoy it for decades.

Buying a turk shotgun as a stepping stone isn't a great option, resale will probably suck.
 
Yes lower recoil as I'm decrepit enough already from some nasty medication that I don't need to give myself extra pain. If I hear some guys pipe up and say the beretta kickoff system virtually kills the recoil I might go for an a400 in 12g. Slow recoil doesn't bother me at all. Anything sharp and the nerves start doing their thing
 
So I ended up purchasing an Mossberg sa-20. If this is too much for the nerves I'll try the beretta. If that's too much I'll stick with rimfires and fishing
