Hey Gang,

At my lgs looking for a 10/22 takedown today, but spent most of my time handling a new BCL102.
The 102 felt almost natural, but I wasn't in love with it.
So some questions are;
Are there any gas piston nr ar10s available to Canada? I prefer piston to impingement.
I found two Stag suppliers (AE and CTCS) and both are sold out. Is there anyone else who sells a COMPLETE package?
Are there any other rifles/manufacturers to look at?

This is NOT another "BCL vs thread" so don't turn into one. I am not looking for SKS or Mini30 suggestions for piston operation either.

Fyi: I use the Stag Model 8 and I like it!

I am not looking for this to be a 800m tack driver. I understand the limitations. I'm looking for reliability.

Thanks

I'm not bashing BCL/Troy but the whole saga should be enough to steer anyone to Stag.
The BCL/Troy is almost half the money though and despite 7 generations in a couple years , using owners as beta testers, there are a few guys here that seem to like thierr rifles. A couple have even successfully hunted deer and moose with them.
But I dunno, I'm a big believer in you get what you pay for and I chose stag based on their solid reputation in the AR15 game.

Why the preference to piston? It offers zero benefits over gas piston to civilian gun owners that can’t run suppressed anyways.

Anyone have any hands on with the Tavor 7 yet?
Fox: I dunno. I grew up with FNs. Maybe that has given me a preference to pistons. That SCAR 20s is just a "little" over budget ha!

Have you tried here. They have a new showroom, go check one out in person.

I could be wrong and probably am,

If a AR-15 gas block fits a Ar10 if they have the same diameter I.e 0.75". Would any'ol bolt on gas piston conversion work for the stag10, granted you buy the right gas system length and all?

Stag10 is the way to go when it comes to AR10's in this country, but if a NR piston gun is more to your liking, the newest generation of XCR-M's are fantastic rifles.

Buying a 6.5 and a .308 barrel to swap might beat having no rifle at all, if you can't find a .308 rifle or a receiver. Plan B though, unless you were curious about 6.5.

Thats where I landed. Shaped for a 6.5 DMR, dropped a Rainier BCG into it and built a 308 upper around a hybrid criterion 308 barrel.

I can appreciate the 6.5 ballistics, but I haven't started reloading for it yet. But I have lots of 308 ammo from my CTR that I can use in the coyote blaster this Christmas at the farm.
