Hey y'all,

I have just recently got interested in shooting and have started building a rig.

I picked up a Remington 700 AAC-SD, badger ordnance base and rings and a Leopold scope.

I just ordered a McMillan stock and am planning on getting it professional pillar bed.

I haven't shot it yet but the trigger fingers itching.

Any advice is greatly appreciated and am happy to join the "addiction".

Cheers,

T

well, if you realy want to get your trigger finger happy, I think you cannot put that much money on a rifle without a decent trigger
riflebasix and timney are not too expensives and are way better than any Remington original trigger

Actually dero338 it might not need a trigger upgrade if it came with the new x-mark pro trigger from what little range time i have had this winter with my friends .338 i would say that trigger might be worth leaving in the gun and just fine tuning to personal preference.

I have read that there have been a lot of complaints about the trigger.

Seeing as mine is brand new out of the box with the X-mark pro I might keep it. I have not fired the gun yet but it seems to dry fire with about 3 pounds.

Down the road I might swap in a timney.

Thank you,

T

Congrats. I've got the same rifle. The bolt will slick up soon enough. I've managed to get mine down to around 1/2" MOA but I've since changed out the stock, scope base and optics and haven't had time to go run some loads through it to see if it still shoots as good. :p

I managed to drop the trigger pull on my 5r from 3.5 lbs down to about 1.8 lbs.
You can try this:

The trigger on the AAC-SD are the X-Mark Pro II triggers. No need to clean out any locktite etc. Mine went down to just shy of 4lbs. Felt okay dry firing it but it felt like 12lbs when trying to squeeze it off under load. It didn't take long for me to swap it out for a Timney. :)

Xmarkpro trigger is the worst pos I have seen yet
If you van have a chance to try a real one you will understand what I mean

If you read my post you would see that my friend has a x mark on his .338 and i have fired it but only about a dozen rounds down range with the x marks personally, and i will agree that timney does make a better trigger i was more meaning that if this person is new to shooting there might be other upgrades that would be more beneficial then swapping to a timney without knowing exactly what they didnt like about the x mark trigger.

well, gooing for badger mounts and a mcmillan stock is not cheap at all, so mennismulisha seems to want suggestions to make it good once and for all
timney is very good
rifle basix are very good as well and not too expensive. I have a couple of them
and there are others even better

Thank you all for your responses.

I have spent a fair amount of money on it so far and am not afraid to cough up a bit more for a "nice" trigger.

I am wanting to go with the Timney.

Also I have the badger ordnance 30mm rings with 1" inserts for the time being. Has anyone had any eperience with the 1" inserts?

Thank you,

M
