Please excuse the newbie question, but what should I look for? Are some manufacturers Garands better than others? What vintage would you start with? And where does a guy get zillions of those en-blocs?

Thread also includes good basic video on stripping and assembling, proper loading and links to the DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY FIELD MANUAL FM 23-5 for the U.S. Rifle, CALIBER .30, M1. Should be a good start for a new Garand owner.
