new to the mini 14

i am wondering about upgrading my mini 14 and am open to ideas aswell what companies make barrels for it?

If your current Mini isn't accurate, you'd be money in by selling it and buying a new target model. The latter offers a better barrel and tighter tolerances than the older, more common Mini-14s.

I'm thinking about dropping mine in a promag/sparta stock.. not sure if it's an upgrade or not, but I like em.

I just ordered one too. Stainless synthetic. Gonna shoot a few rounds thru it to see if it's worth modding. Anyone suggest any must do's for stock Mini-14s?

The new target model is a bit of a joke. Heavy barrel till the gas block then stardard profile. I had a frankinstine mini once, somone mounted a rem 700 heavy barrel on it. Wouldn't cycle worth a damn but it was a straight shooter

Its a new model so mine doesn't have the same issues as the old one I'm thinking it could use a better trigger though let me know how the Sparta stock works out Utah. Aswell is it a pipe dream to try to find the folding stock as seen in the A team because that would be perfect

as i said i have a newer mini and it has a threaded on muzzle break is it a standard ar muzzle? im thinking about switching it to a Troy muzzle break

Just because the barrel is not heavy all the way through doesn't mean it will not shoot well. I have heard some very good reports from guys shooting the target guns.

I did not say it didnt shoot well, i said its kind of a joke. not a standard barrel, but not a true heavy barrel either.

The trigger can be smoothed out with a lill' laping compound. slightly tweeking the springs will also help. Check u tube for info

I did the trigger on mine befor selling it and it made a huge difference.

i bought an old 187 series stainless with the original folding stock for$540 about 7 years ago. it also has a straight gas block and sling swivel on the side. 2 factory 20 rounders and a no name 30 were included. i love it without lasers and rails and all the other ar stuff. you will probably end up enjoying it as a stock rifle. as the new sights are better.

$540 was a steal! I love this configuration. GB barrel, factory folding stock. It just looks great. Not the most comfy thing to shoot, but it just looks fantastic.

Also who makes a good scope mount for over the reciever
