New to the site, Old in the fight..........

I am was a long time gun owner until 2001 when I took a stand and refused to register a firearm in Canada. I duck hunted from 15 and at 50 I gave up 8 years of my sport to fight the registry.

I joined here to again educate myself even more as My union...........CAW has again begun to spend our membership money against many of our members who own firearms.

Sorry if I do not follow the newbie creed but I have been in the fight from day one.

I hope I can learn and help here.

Bob

Welcome to CGN. There are lots of great members here. About 55,000 & growing.

I got into this sport over 40 years & I am still going strong. More aches & pains now so I shoot milder loads.

Enjoy.

Welcome Bob, I know lots of UAW workers that don't like the unions stand on gun control. Course most speak up loudly enough for the leaders to hear.

There has been a lot of anti's fishing around this site lately posing as newb's. I don't know if he sold his guns, hence the question mark!. With the registry amnesty still in place, there is no reason to quit your sport. Also If someone claims to give up his sport and use of firearms to fight the registry..well that is the most backward thinking yet. If this guy is for real he will stick to his guns and respond.
Welcome Bowbob59:wave:

I'll bet there are about a million Canadian gun owners who chose to fight by refusing to register. If everyone had listened to them instead of the gov't we wouldn't be in this prediciment now.

Welcome... from another old fighter, that has been in it since before the FAC.

Armed men are citizens...unarmed men are subjects!

Keep fighting the good fight guys. I wish I could share my country/state/city's quite friendly gun laws with you. Heck, my state still allows open AND concealed carry. (The latter with a permit of course.)

Thanks for the welcome, The question on how did I fight?

I wrote letters, stood up at meeting at my local and at public meetings in our area, verbal lashed politicians that came to my door. I only had one shotgun and it is still mine in good hands.

I loved to duck hunt and I felt it was not right to go with good friends who did register and have them bothered if I was checked.

I bow hunt for big game so I had sold all my rifles before the crap of a law happened.

A recent letter I sent;

Dear Brother Lewenza,

Once again the CAW and you are on the wrong side of knowledge and truth on this waste for money and resources. Not a single soul has been saved by this registry. As a matter of fact the down turn in homicides in Canada happened early in the 90’s long before this draconian law was ever passed.

Ken, if you want to save lives peer advocacy is the way to do it. I said it to you in meetings at 444 but you refused to listen then and you appear to be no smarter today. It is a shame you fear monger like the Liberals you support.

My two daughters are not gun owners. But they unlike you understand they must be aware of the environment around them and the changes that lead to the emotional issues that change people and could lead to acting out in a violent manner. They know that there are signs that give us the ability to intervene before harm is done. Where did they learn it? They learned it from their father who learned it from United Way. Union Counselors and activists can and could save lives because they would be the front line of defense to bring attention to law enforcement. You are not the only ones dragging your feet. I have tried to get Hunting Clubs to implement this but Redneck disease slows them down from the truth. They could peer monitor and consult members when the warning signs go up.

Shame on them and you for not seeing the fact “we are our brothers keeper”.

There is no victory here. Seven RCMP officers died over the last 8 years because people like you wanted to register a duck hunters gun. Their blood is on your hands because no one saw the obvious signs the perpetrator was going to do harm. 2 billion wasted on a failed system when we could be proactive and have used it to educate the people that would have caught them before they killed.

You once said to me “they should ban all guns”. You could do that to the Law abiding Canadians but it is the drug gangs and other criminals you would be helping to support in doing that.

So in closing I know this letter to you will not get through that thick uninformed ego of yours. But then again you are Ken Lewenza and you are always right…………….in Ken Lewenza’s world.

In Solidarity,

I remain vigilant even if we are close to the end of this law, it could be turned around.

You had best unlearn that sh*t. If you were as active in the fight as you claim to be, you would know that the United Way has a huge campaign with the CLC to maintain the registry and futher limit civilian gun ownership.

Huh, front line of defence? As a Union steward, how the hell am I going to save people being killed by gang violence or armed robbery?

What the hell is redneck diease, Many of us here belong to hunting clubs so do we all suffer from it?

Those RCMP officers died at the hands of criminals inspite of the registry not because of it.

Sorry, If a criminal has the intent to kill it is nearly impossible to prevent. How do you educate against that?.

weldboss, somehow I knew you might respond that way.

I am proud to be a gun owner and the registry is wrong, but it does not mean we have to not care or lend a hand when needed.

If you do not like what I wrote or want to get in in your head that I am not what you consider up to your standards...................I did not come here to please you.

Have a great day:)
