The differences that I know of:
1. Savage Mark II FV, Heavy barrel, no open sights, accu-trigger
2. Stevens Model 300, Sporter barrel, open sights, No Accu-trigger, rifle is 1lbs lighter
I'm not a fan of tube magazines.
Of the two above, I'd go mrk2 for the accutrigger and heavy barrel.
If heavy barrel doesn't concern you, there is a sporter barreled mrk2 that will give you the accutrigger. Mark II F, basically the stevens 300 but with the accu-trigger. According to Savage's website, it's around $20 more than the Stevens 300.
