Yes it's YUGO, one of the first one from 1960-67.. no grenade launcher, mechanical twin of Russian SKS and it has CHROME barrel. I don't need to check again, I know what I'm talking about...:slap:

Please don't take this as a criticsm, but I could not find anything on the site listing that the M59 has a chromed barrel, and it's the first that I've heard of it on several milsurp discussion boards. Could you provide a link which indicates that the M59 bore was chrome lined? I have one myself that I haven't shot yet, partially because I've been lead to believe that it isn't chrome lined and partially because I just haven't gotten down to it yet.

I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong on the status of my rifle's bore!

Why let an unchromed barrel stop you from shooting it. As long as you clean it well after shooting it you will have no problems. Chromed or not, if you going to shoot corrosive you have to clean it soon after anyway because the gas effected areas and chamber are not chrome. Some people claim that non chromed barrels are more accurate, though since were talking about an SKS I hardly think that it would make much difference. Though my Russian SKS Non Chromed rifle is quite accurate. So shoot away !!!!

Well, the status of your bore can be easily checked by visual inspection... chromed will be ...chromed and not chromed won't be...
I don't have a link, I have my Yugo rifle with all Yugo marks and teak wood stock and Yugo S/N C###### and it has chromed barrel.
Does some one will provide me a link stating that M59 is NOT CHROMED???
I remember I have seen confirmation that first Yugo been Chromed somewhere on the net, when I was doing research on origin and year of my rifle..
 
As accuracy is subjective , what kind of groups are you guys getting with mil cartridge and factory sites?

As my eye sight isn't 20/20 anymore , I get 2 to3 inch groups resting ,at 100 yds. Is that about normal ? Or can they tighten up considerably ?

For surpluss ammo that is pretty average.
Mind you some (myself included) have gotten much better results.

well, the russian routinely did re-barrel, 95% russian sks were refurbished and it was refurbished at the factory . most had their barrel replaced , even the non-chrome barrel were replaced with chrome, they did such a good job that people cant tell , all number are matching also.

i too havent heard of a yugo with chrome barrel .

Well I guess if its arsenal re-barreled, you won't tell a difference...
I guess I'm lucky, this will definitely add the value to my SKS...

I have heard of Yugos getting rebarreled, just like the Russian ones were. Makes sense since they are not chromed and many of the rifles were in great condition but the barrel may have been nasty looking, so they simply swapped barrels. Makes your Yugo unique.

I've fired corrosive out of my CZ 858-2 and M91/30, not to mention one of my two Norc SKSs. And yes, I am aware that the gas system and chambers need attention after shooting corrosive, regardless of bore construction.

Last year was the first time that I had regular access to a range in several years though I had been adding to my collection all along. Between the limited number of guns I could take with me each trip and the fact that I like to spend more time cleaning the guns shot with corrosive ammo, I just never really got down to shooting her yet.

I will certainly try to research further about the M59s to confirm the use of chromed bores and will post whatever I find.

i read on another gunboard that the first time yugoslavia produced chrome bore was in 1970 in their AK.
