new to the sport, need advice

The FEG's are nice guns - first one I've seen with a single trigger. However, the fixed tight chokes limit the gun to trap - shorter games like skeet etc not easily pursued. Also, its likely a 2 3/4 in chamber which limits it to upland use for hunting - ie no steel shot, and no 3 in shells for ducks. Finally, there is zero aftermarket support for those Hungarian guns.
If you want to go the ecomony over and under route, find a Baikal with removable chokes, single trigger, and a 3 in chamber. They even made a sporting model with ported barrels - I have one, it cost me 550$ used - it doesn't win any beauty contests, but its functional and reliable.

One of the things you should know when you’re getting the feel of various guns is that many have left or right handed stocks (referred to as the “cast”..as in casts left or casts right). And many are neutral (straight stock or no cast). Go to various stores and shoulder different guns with you eyes closed. With the gun mounted (cheeked), open your eyes. Your dominant eye should be looking down the rib and on the bead.

^ great advise for a entry gun, I have handled one twice now thinking about buying but idk if I can do it as I have always had Remington's and Brownings and my trap guns a Perrazi but someday I might just own one to try it.
