I hope you don't mind a Yank checking out your site...
I'm only about a 2 hour ride from the Ontario border (upstate NY here).
I'm a retired USAF jet fighter pilot (30 years ago) who interacted with RCAF fliers often, most of them from Baggotville. Always got a kick out of Canadians, they are so 'alive' that you can't help but love them.

I'm a lifelong member of the NRA, certified rifle and pistol instructor, hunter education instructor for NY state, reload ammo, shoot skeet, trap, rifles, pistols of all kinds. I'm kinda old now (74) so I don't hunt as much anymore, just get into "the bush" out my back door... no more several mile treks in the bush for me. I miss it, but have to be realistic. I still get my share of grouse and an occassional deer.

I'm here to see how my northern neighbors are doing and just to be friendly-- maybe even learn something, eh? :)

Hey Jim,

I stayed in Rome while shooting an NRA Action Pistol match at the club in Holland Patent NY. Odd little Bates Motel place just north of a five way intersection.

Welcome aboard........you'll find great people here, educated & aware folk and a whole slew of intially confusing laws & regulations.....;)

Welcome Jim enjoy the forum... my wife and I moved to Alberta in January from East Otto NY, its nice to hear of the state again.

If you're interested, you can get a Canadian firearm licence, take a trip up, do the test(s), the rest of it is pretty straightforward. Once you've got it you can register any guns you want to visit Canada with, but in Ontario basically you have to join a club or sign up for a competition if you want to bring a restricted firearm (mainly an AR-15 or non-prohibited handgun) in with you.

Welcome Jim it's nice to hear from our friends south of the border especially a jet jock. I met many of you guys where I used to work when the airshows were on. It always amazed me at how young some of the guys were flying the B.1 and other fighters but then I forgot how old I was. Lots of stuff on here to enjoy.
