Hey guys. I am tossing around the idea of a build and have no idea on where to start. What I should be looking for or anything. Sorry if this sounds dumb.
What is the best rifle to build? For my first project should I just find an old rifle and restock it or what's the best way to get my feet wet?

Ok, well first question is what are you doing? Is this a hunting gun? If so, for what game and range is it for? Is this a target gun? If so, in what class and at how far do you plan on shooting?

Secondly, what does your "build" consist of? New barrel? Trigger tuning? New trigger? Magazine system? Restoration? Are you starting with nothing but a bare action or are you working fro soemthing?

Finally, what is your budget? If your budget is $1000, that kind of rules out getting a new Stiller action. Likewise, if your budget is $3000, I wouldn't be building the gun off a $300 Mauser sporter.
