Hi all,

I went trap shooting yesterday and enjoyed the heck out of it. Luckily I have a friend who has numerous shotguns and I am able to try out various models until I find what is right for me.
Baring the obvious shotgun, pouch for shells, ear and eye protection, what do you take to the range that you can not be without?

You may need a bucket or box for your empty shell but actually you have it covered. Eventually you will want a shooting vest, holds both your live ammo and your empties. Suitable non binding clothing appropriate to the weather is a must.

My range bag contains; a bore snake, about a dozen chokes to fit all of my shotguns, 6-7 boxes of shells, a vest or a pouch, my ATA, NSSA & NSCA records, various club related items, choke wrenches, a good Robusto and cutter, 2 empty claybuster wad bags for fired hulls bug repellent and ear plugs. I always bring 2 bottles of water and a hat.

To add to Maritime Storm's almost complete list -
If you are a reloader, you might want to add a wad knocker - occasionally a "blooper" sticks a wad in the bore, but it does happen. The bore snake can also serve to knock out a wad.
I have a small bag of disposable ear plugs - have often helped out a fellow shooter. Prescription shooting glasses - some people have different colour lenses, and blinders on them.
I take a range cleaning kit that stays in the car.

Ha ha Maritime storm, I had to google "Robusto and cutter" as I haven't read about those on this forum....
Great info thanks everyone.

One of my members used to joke that if he landed at the club and couldn't see me, all he had to do was stand down wind and take a deep breath and he would know where to start looking. My wife has made me cut back recently, I limited to 3 a week know, 1 in the yard and 2 at the club while filling the machines.
