New to trap

Hi Guys,

Just wondering what gun you would suggest for someone looking to get intp trap (semi auto & o/u), I was looking at a Browning Citori XT Gold trap. I just wanted to know if it was overkill for a newbie.
 
God no!! If you want to buy that to start good for you. if it doesn't suit there are many more for sale and it should not be difficult to sell that browning.
Myself, I prefer the superposed in trap.
 
Get the one that fits you the best! Semi or o/u is up to you really - at our range just as many shoot both.

The XT is a very nice shotghun and would serve you just fine. However, given the price tag it may be overkill for a newbie.

Head out to your range, see what other guys are shooting and maybe ask them to shoulder or shoot a few of them. You will quickly find what you like, if you are considering the different shooting sports you may consider a sporting model as well.

Any of the "B" guns will do just fine and help retain some of their value.
 
The Citori is a good gun! My advice is make sure the gun fits. Don't rush out and buy a gun. Ask some members at the club if you can shoulder and mount their gun. If they'll let you ask to shoot the ones that "feel" right. Trap is an addictive game and once you're hooked you'll be in it for a long time.
 
Thanks for all the comments, I'm going to head up to my club and see what the guys are using a watch a few rounds.
