New to tumbling: how long to run the tumber?

Overnight here also.

But then a couple times I forgot and left it for the better part of a week!! Started out with a batch of brass and nickel cases, ended up with all brass. It polished the nickel right off.....
 
Corn in the flash hole is only a problem if going to do a final wash and store the brass in a 5 gallon bucket. The depriming pin will clean out the hole when you go through the reloading process.

this happened to me as well,
when i came back from Cuba after three weeks of vacation, the Brass was tatally disolved, desintegrated....nothing left.
The RCBS vibrator was still running perfectly....
 
30 minutes on a Dillon vibratory tumbler. Corncob media, with small additions of Brasso or Dillon polish as required.
 
I use crushed walnut from Pet Value, 1 capful of Nu-Polish, and some cut up dryer sheet bits. 2-3 hours always seems to be plenty to polish them up nicely and clean them.

Well, some of us may decap using a universal decapping die, but I decap with a fullsizer or necksizer. He might be running brass thru one of those with decapping pin thereafter, and his process will clean up the primer pocket. I prefer to go at it with a primer pocket cleaner, and also I reload lots of range brass and have to chamfer some of the primer pockets anyway.
 
i throw in a bit of brasso, some brass polish i found in the cupboard, and when run through a second time in softer media the come out look real good. almost brand new good.
 
I deprime before tumbling. I am finding that I am moving away from tumbling as I like chemical baths better (faster/less electricity/cleaner) it seems to clean the brass better then tumbling.

A few hours shoudl clean them, and if you want them relaly shiny do it overnight...

x2. Really badly stained old brass could go 6-8 hours. If it doesn't come clean overnight it 's not going to come clean, period.

:DMy post wasn't directed at you specifically, I was just surprised to hear there was a video about something as simple as tumbling brass. No need to get your panties in a knot....


But now that you brought it up, I have only one thing to say;.......


Finally, the recognition I deserve!
