New to Yellowknife

Hi there,

I am not new to hunting/shooting, but I just moved to Yellowknife for work. I'm looking for some like-minded people to get out into nature with and do some hunting or shooting. My goal is to keep my freezer full of ptarmigan, rabbits, fish, and even moose during my three year posting here. I'm also interested in learning some DIY tanning. I'd like to start saving the pelts/skins of my small and large game. So if you know anything about that, that would be a bonus!

Hope to hear from somebody soon. My wife isn't exactly the hunting or shooting type...yet.

There is a two year wait for residency for big game. Your best bet is to find a like minded co-worker to hunt with and share meat. Or shoot a lot of ptarmigan (or buy a small freezer).

I'd start planning/saving for a fly in 2 week hunting trip in to the Mackenzie's.

X2. Lots more big game there. The trails off the Vee Lake Road out by Giant Mine are usually good for putting up some ptarmigan. I used to go down there often.
