So... today I picked up a new precious :)

I've never shot an 1100 or 11-87 so I wasn't quite sure what to expect.
Stripping it is straight forward... I wiped it down and hit the range tonight to fire-off 100 shells as fast as I could.

I am happy to report there wasn't a single failure and the fun factor of this gem is quite high!

I am in love all over again... I am quite happy I grabbed this baby when I did - I was told there is (or was) only 1 other one in BC when I bought it (22" version).

BTW it does take chokes ;) (came with 3)

I lucked out... I was in Reliable Gun & Tackle *BC* and saw that they had an 870 Tactical in stock... I made the comment "I wish I could get a Tactical 22" Version of the 1100" :)

I was immediately told "My supplier has 1 of those..." to which I replied "Get it!"

:)

It was $880 before taxes.

Looks like this - minus the extended mag tube (keeping it non-restricted in Canada).

Yeah I bought a 1100 about a year ago, Slowly modding it. I need a syn buttstock, I got the Choate BIG cocking handle, the Easy Loader, Van Comp BIG safety button, 18.7" barrel, VAN Comp +2 ext pinned to 1, Side saddle and Single Point adapter.

Now im taking it to the smith to have a rail installed. I only ever had 1 stopage with it.

I love to get my Parked. I can call it the Tactical Pimp gun becuase its ingraved.

Probably Prohib-Status if th extension were greater than +1.

A Semi-Auto Center Fire firearm cannot hold more than 5 cartridges/shells.

Right now the 1100 holds 4 in the tube. I am looking into getting a +1 extension or blocking the 4-shot extension so that I can only fit a 5th on in.

Yeah, the 1100 is a damn fine shotgun - I will probably get a second one in the future (or 11-87).

No, you can not. The gun is and always will be non-restricted. However, adding a tube extention that allows more than 5 rounds of the longest length the barrel is chambered for would turn the magazine into a prohibited device.

Keep in mind that in blocking the tube, it only has to be blocked so it can't take a sixth round. If you've got a 3 or 3.5 inch chamber, you could leave the follower travel great enough to be legal, but possibly squeeze in another 2 3/4 round

If you wanted to, you could TECHNICALLY get that long extension tube (for looks) and then permanantly plug part of it so it still only holds 5 rounds.

I think a shorter mag tube would make it look unbalanced. It should be factory length, or right up to the end of the barrel. Nothing in between!!!

Do you guys know if the rules for plugging a tube is the same as a magazine?

I was thinking of an Aluminum Rod which I'd Rivet into the extension to block it.

Probably the simplest way would be to JB Weld a ring inside the extention tube. It would need to be large enough to prevent the follower from riding over it, but small enough not to interfere with the spring. If you could find the right sized tubing, I'd think about running a full lenght tube to the end of the extention.

If I add an extention to the 1100 could I just have it re-registered as a restricted firearm?

You could permanently epoxy a plastic plug into a longer extension to make it into a plus1 and looks longer and then just use a shorter spring.

Mag capacities on restricted semi-auto RIFLES and SHOTGUNS are the same whether they are restricted or not. Pistols get 10, but that's it!
