Sorry about the poor pics...my camera's sensor is acting up.
Just picked up this Dlask 8.5"bbl/870 Remington. Basically saw it. Fondled it. Bought it. Just couldn't resist the little thing.
Have yet to send any lead down range but I understand a 2ft. "flame" can be seen even in daylight! I know I'll be wearing gloves....slugs are gonna hurt.;)
Forgot to include the Hogue Tamer pistol grip in the pics but it comes in the pkg. I actually prefer the setup with the regular stock/slug pouch config.

Slugs arn't too bad 3" ones are mmmm stout, shall we say. With the Hoge tamer the 2 3/4 buck hammers ran quite well. That's what my load would be, just to get the extra round out of it.

Also the rail covers are really handy.

The OAL of the SG with the regular stock is about 29"
However, with the Hogue pistol grip the OAL is well under 26". Does anyone know if I'll have to re-register the SG as a restricted if I plan to use this configuration?

I think I found the answer.
If anyone else is wondering it goes like this.....because the SG is non-restricted and sold as a pkg with the pistol grip, if/when I put the pistol grip on I would have to re-register it as a restricted within 30 days. If I put the regular stock back on before the 30 days is up I do not have to re-register it. So basically I can change back and forth (within the 30 days) to keep the non-restricted class. Clear as mud....

where did you get that cool shell holder puch ?
The pouch was purchased by a buddy from a Vancouver gun shop whose name completely slips my mind (I've had it for a couple of years). I can't even tell you who makes it as there are no tags/markings on the pouch. But yes, it's a real great product and nicely padded.

What is Dlask charging for their 12.5" barrels? I checked out their website but couldn't find any pricing.

I emailed them about prices the last week and this was their response:

Hi Dlask 870 Rem. 12.5" or 14" barrels are $299.00 plus tax and SH/H
Thanks Josef

There is a saddle maker in central Alberta making shuolder holsters as well. FYI. $250-300 bucks and very well made.

Nice to see more of these little shotties making it out into the world. I love mine too!

Congrats on your purchase!

I run mine with a knoxx on it for thsoe 3 inch slugs, it helps a ton!

And as for the holster, there is a custom saddle shop in Killam that makes them for around $250-$300....if you're interested pm and I can get you the details. There are pics elsewhere on CGN.

Great:) So I guess this means we have a volunteer to test out the theory.

You might want to do a search on this topic in the shotgun forum, this has been discussed to death a million times and no agreement has ever been decided apon. Altho I think it it common thought that a CO or police officer is not going to care inside out whether you installed it one day or 29 days ago, you will likely be in some hot water if you are caught without the proper RPAL and ATT when you're in possecion of that guy in its sub-26" form. The rules are black and white, but who sees black and who sees white is where you get grey.

There is also a very good thread on here in which it shows what happens when you cross an uneducated cop with a 12" barrel. I will try to find some links for you, as these are things you should know with a shortie.
