Does it loosen up yer fillings when shooting it or does the gas operation take up a lot of the recoil? :confused:

Why do you say never to use reloads...just curious? I'd say don't shoot lead reloads out of it but jacketed should be fine. I've been using them in mine for years with no issues. It's a Mark I and doesn't like most factory ammo so it gets a diet of hot reloads.

I couldn't fire more than one in a row, then after 3 rounds I had a round with no powder or something because the bullet got stuck in the barrel and I had to get a gunsmith to brass punch it out. Every round of AE fired flawlessly. The 180gr PMC was an ftf every two rounds or so due to the slide not cycling fully. Oh and these were fully jacketed reloads, flat nose

1. They are a ton-o-fun in either caliber (44 vs 50)
2. I use nothing but reloads in my 44 version now. No lead bullets due to the gas port and load them to the upper end. H110 is your friend here.
3. Some of the early factory I used was Rem 180gr ammo. Worked like a charm :confused:
4. Yes, you have to hang on tight, and in a very specific way (push/pull firmly is what I tell people shooting it for the first time)
5. See #2 & 3.
6. People are usually surprised by the trigger (actually decent on mine) and the accuracy. Although if you take time getting a sight picture, the weight becomes an issue :p

Every time I break it out at the range, it gets noticed. It's a magnet, drawing all sorts in.
I love shooting it on overcast days to really see the belch of flame :rockOn:

The 44 mag is a blast to shoot through this. The weight and gas operation soak up most of the recoil. The flame is impressive on my reloads.
Now the 50AE ...... Ya gotta hang on a lot tighter, and you might want to check your wallet (and fillings) at the door, 'cause it's gonna hurt them both:p

reloads are fine if you made them. Im saying dont use store bought reloads.

I had a DE44, sold it, was a really nice gun to shoot however I prefer a 44magnum in a revolver platform like my S&W629
 
I enjoy my DE immensely. I installed a set of Hogue grips with finger grooves and made it even more comfortable. It always puts a smile on my face.. especially the fireball from hot reloads!
