I Bought a new Rem xcr long range tactical in 300wm. topped it with a leup vari Xlll 4.5-14x40 tactical scope.
What is the break-in procedure ?
What sort of accuracy should I expect?
ammo recomendations that wont break the bank? im not a handloader..

1.) shoot it and clean it if you want. Barrel break in is fiction
2.) random. You'll have to shoot it to see.
3.) can not advise with this, anyone?

I agree that you should look into reloading if you are serious in the very least. $1.50 a shot for the cheapest silver box ammo is going to add up very, very fast. If you look at match ammo you are going to double that probably. I know some people have more money than time, but not me.

Just shoot it. Break-in not needed.

Accuracy, depends. Every factory gun is different. Factory rifles range from less than a half-inch to a couple of inches at 100 yards The fact you have such a HUGE cartridge for such a light gun, it's gonna hurt and you will have to resist the development of flinching. Bottom line: Some Remingtons shoot well, some don't. Fact of life.

Also, there is not much factory loaded 300WM match ammo that I am aware of, so you are at the whim of hunting loads. So anything less than an inch and a half is a bonus.

hand-loading will allow you to use match bullets and seat them to a depth that will help contribute to accuracy.

Barrel life will not be outstanding, so make 'em count.

Start up cost of reloading is the worst but if you planon doing a lot of shooting it is well worth it plus you can work up a load that your rifle likes. I am one of the ones that beleave in barrel break in but the most important thing to remember is not to over heat your barrel.

I think I will start handloading, the cheepest stuff at crappy tire is $30/box.
I had some bases and rings here that I have used, I know they are not the recomended type stuff for this rifle but what do you think, sufficient? they are redfield heavy bases and leupold steel rings.

Nice rifle I have the same one but with a Warne 20MOA rail and a Mark 4 8.5-25X50

As far as accuracy mine is right around that 3/4 inch mark at 100.

For factory loads it likes the Federal Gold Medal Match 190 GR Sierra Matchkings. They are pricey though running over 50 bucks for a box.

Like obtunded said it will beat you up on a load development day. I put 30 down the pipe in one afternoon and had a nice bruise to show for my efforts the next day. But for shooting a few shots here or there it is not to bad.

Handloads will make it the best it can be. I would not waste money at a gunsmith with that particular rifle.

Here's mine.
Near 25MOA base
Custom bolt knob
Threaded barrel with JP break
Modified internal mag for 5+1
Glass bedded
Tuned trigger to 2.5lbs
Nightforce 5.5-22x56mm Mil-dot with 0 stop

With the above setup and factory 168grn match I've printed a .5" group at 200m.

The scope in the pics ia junk Millett TRS-1 I had kicking around.
Since the pics the rifle has gone through some changes but looks the same.
