Have a new toy to play with now! A Savage gen 3 SA .223 with a Shilen Select Match 16.75" barrel and a XLR industries folding stock with an Atlas V8 bipod and Farrell 20moa mount, 1.34 IOR rings and a 6500 Bushnell Tactical 4.5-30x50mm scope. Have a AAC 18t flash hider and just need a matte black thread protector that is .674" long and has a OD of .926" with a textured finish and 1/2x28 tpi threads. (link/help?)

Was out in 30-35km winds teaching my nephew to shoot lots of toys:D and could not get more than a .8 moa average (5 groups) but after a "slightly" better day got some decent groups with the best being a .341 3rd one using reloads for my AR target upper. Will be making a proper load for this with a bit of time! Started to rain so had to call it for another day:rolleyes:

A few pics starting on the first day with the new shooter and then on to the good weather day (group was before the rain started)

On Target is the program thats gives me the 3 decimal places. If I was smarter I could round it up for you:p Hoping for .1-.2's with a proper load and a calm wind day.

Sean at North Shore Barrels ( http://www.northshorebarrels.ca/ ) Put it together for me with the match barrel and chassis (special order) and extras. He can put a rifle together for you with most actions;) I supplied the Savage action to match my 308 rifle. Hope he will see this thread and offer up some hints on whats avalible, or you could check out his web page for more rifles like this one.

North Shore barrels can sell the stock to you.

Ive bean looking at them for some time now. friggen loves em.

to the OP, Did you order yours right from XLR industries? any issues shipping across the border?

Kyle says there is no problems ,,,, but ,,, ehhh I dont know ,,

I want to get one for my 6xc as well but need him to make one for the tikka m55 action. - witch btw if anyone is wondering, It is no extra cost to have one made for your action if its not the norm like a remington 700.

Sorry If I was not clear, but Sean (at northshorebarrels.ca) supplied the stock and match barrel and put it all together and mailed it my door. XLR has a reputation of being very good to deal with direct as well.

ha, no your clear. I had typed half my post than left for a little bit. just missed it. Thought I was replying to the guy above u.

Glad your happy with the XLR tho ! Sweet units. I hope to see more people with them in the future.

And a picture of the XLR stock with my 308 20" factory barrel Savage Precision Carbine in it:D

AI 10 rd mags used in both the 223 (plastic) and the 308 (metal) Just need more mags now

You've got me contemplating a shorty for myself now... Never thought I'd want one that short but after handling yours I think I'm converted!!

I am guilty of thinking about calling you about a 16" Select Match barrel for my 308 now too:cool: Think I will play with this one for a bit first:D

Hello

Very nice setup!! I am looking into doing something very similiar with my Savage 10fcp-k. I have a question for you though, I see that you have the same action as me with the bolt release down by the trigger guard and not up on the side of the receiver like some savage actions. I have come across another chassis system that works for the Savage SA but does not work with the newer bolt release by the trigger guard that is built into the bottom metal. I cant tell from your pictures but wanted to know if the XLR evolution has fabricated some sort of system to allow access to the bolt release without having to take the chassis off. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

The XLR Chassis has a bolt release for the 10FCP-K or Precision Carbine that allows you to remove the bolt as you would normally without removing the rifle from the stock. Very easy to do just like a factory system +1 for XLR:D
