Finally decided to go out and pick up one of my favorite shotguns out there, a remington 870 synthetic. 18" barrel, two round extension. Synthetic stock. One of the best home defense weapons out there, IMO. (At least, that's how I justified the purchase to the wife =P ) Can't wait to get out to the range. Grabbed it from my local hunting goods store, wont say where as most people on here APPARENTLY don't like this place. But with my membership, it was $380 out the door. Couldn't go wrong!

I only wish it had their new forend. Oh well, christmas is coming. PICS (even though everyone knows what they look like)

LeBaron actually had them in stock? im amazed.

i remember they had a sale a while back, 10% off all guns on top of your normal 10% from your club card. the first day of the sale i called in and NOTHING was in stock at either LeBaron location. i wanted the gun you just bought for a project build, they didnt have it - so i said screw it i just need a receiver and ill sell off the rest -- so i went down the list of every single 870 model they had in the catalogue (with the exception of super mags) and was told none were in stock.

Pistol grip too! :p

naw, I'm actually not a huge fan of pistol grips on shotguns, personally.
But the new forend is ### in your hands.. Besides, I just think it looks cleaner

They had more than one! They had almost everything. I held and compared the 870 express synthetic, mossberg 500 (same thing, 18" barrel and all) and the marine magnum version of the 870 as well. They've got tons right now, the one in Markham anyway. I don't know why I've read on here people don't like them! I love them! I also got 100 rounds of 12guage target ammunition on sale for $26 with tax! Perfect for plinking. Even got my 9mm there. remington 50rd box for $14! How can you NOT like them!? I just wise they sold handguns.

As much as I'd love to support the local guys, money is tight these days. Another local store I called quoted me $50 more for the IDENTICAL shotgun (remington 870 express, synthetic, black, 18inch barrel, 2 round extension). And that's $50 more BEFORE my discount for my membership.

IMO the 'police' style forend like the one you got on your gun is vastly superior.
it doesnt obscure the loading gate - to save my thumb i often load my extended mag 870s with the slide back and the lifter locked in the up position - this is impossible to do with a longer forend since the loading port is partially or fully (depending on the forend) obscured by them with the slide back.
also no need to mod it when adding side-saddles, and its much more solid. it also gives a better grip when wet or being used with gloves. stick with that one, its much better.

Or a Hogue forend, they're the best unless you want a built in flashlight (Surefire) or a rail on the forend.

hmm. thanks for the input, gents. Definitely some food for thought. On a side note, the hogue forend does look quite comfortable and functional. Still on the fence if I want to get one for my glock 17
