New TRG Has Arrived!

Oh yah, that is awsome! Very nice scope, did you have it built to your specs, or is it a production model?
Thanx for all the positive comments guys. I realize this type of rig isn't necessarily everyone's cup of tea, but from what I could determine, It will more than meet my requirements for a long time to come.
As to cost, some of my plastic did get a little singed, but if the .338 LM is what blows your dress up there's not a lot of choice and few if any options cost less $$ than a TRG 42. Its at very least a reasonable choice for the calibre and has a good reputation to boot.
The scope is an extravagance. I had it made to my specs. Its a SN 3 T-Pal 5-25 x 58 with a lighted Horus H-37 reticle and 35mm tube. Its metric and has the extra long eye relief objective so I shouldn't be taking divots out of my eyebrows.
Next, its off to the range. I'll post a report on how that goes.

Nice setup...those US optics are increadable glass, I would love to have one. maybe in the future.

Can't comment on the Mcmillan. This TRG is the first rifle/stock of this type I've ever had my hands on. A feature of the TRG is that furniture and trigger are easy for the owner to tweak. I'm ordering a spacer for the cheek piece but other than that, the feel and trigger wt. seem perfect for me just as shipped.
That would be great Ivo ! I've loaded some Retumbo in increments between 89g and 98g to hunt for the sweet spots but if you have some load/velocities that work for you I'd certainly appreciate the info,,thanx!
does it already have the two spacers in the butstock? I believe most of the new ones come with them already. The older 22's and 42's didn't (like my 22 for example), and if you are over 5ft 10in you need them for proper length of pull.
sweet rig, one note, don't tighten any of the screws too tight, especially the butt screws, as you can crack spacers doing that.
Also consider getting the Sako bipod, it's expensive, but well worth it. Much nicer than any others, and it looks so good on the rifle.

Yep. butstock spacers x 2 came installed and I've got the bipod. The scope sits a little high on the tapered base though and if I go with lower rings I'll have trouble mounting the anti-cant and ACI units. I may have to reconfigure and lower the scope eventually but for now I want to try the cheek piece spacer.
If after you do all of your load development and fire form your brass and you still aren't achieving 1/4" or less at 100yds, don't be disapointed. Though it is nice and it is expensive, it's still a production gun and some guns are different then others. I've seen the Sako TRGs and the HS Precisions out of the box do 1" groups which, for a lot of guys is better then they are capable of out to 1000yds or so, but a production gun may still need to be accurized. It's got the right components but it still gets put together to manufacture standards. The difference between 700P out of the box and then the ones that have been bedded properly are night and day. Keep us posted on how it turns out and all the best, you've got the good stuff in your hands with that rig.
