NEW TYPE 81 and WK UPGRADES

TNA, does the adjustable gas valve just replace the piston cup and SHCS holding it into the OEM gas block?

I ordered one for my 1st gen WK in 5.56. Hoping that this stops the rifle from eventually beating itself to death.

FYI as others have commented your website has issues.

When I submitted the order I got an error and it stayed on the submit page - I did get an email from TNA that the order went through and text from my CC that it had been charged, but the website never went to any order complete type page.

Anybody install the stock adapter for the type 81? I got mine but have yet to find a stock. Will other AK style stocks work or just the Yugo? Was hoping to run a wire type folder instead of the bulky Zhukov.

For anyone wondering about the adjustable gas valve for the 180C...

I installed mine on a low serial first gen 180C as per TNA:
Put the first set screw in from the barrel end until it blocks the gas holes, then tighten the second set screw against that. Cycle the firearms and if adjustment is needed, unscrew the second screw all the way out, slightly open the gas ports with the first screw and again tighten the second down against it to lock it in place. Repeat

I never had to do further adjustment from the original 'block the holes and lock the set screw with the second one'.

All brass was ejected at about 4 o'clock into a 2 foot area, rifle cycled no problems using cheap Federal bulk 55grain.

If this stops the rifles from eating themselves then kudo's to TNA for making this part available.

So this replaces the piston cup in gen 1 models?

whats wrong with it? i missed out on these but was very interested when i saw them

Unrelated to function; shipping was poor, they weren't individually wrapped.
It doesn't line up right in any dimension; left to right it's too long by maybe 50 thou so it moves and jams up the trigger. The lands are undetectable, but that's not anything that's their fault, just a side effect of having a 20 degree throw. However, I believe the lands are in the wrong place since safety off puts the lever below my receiver.

I read the description, and understood that the lands would be finicky, but i was prepared to detent my receiver in the appropriate place. Can't quite do that when the appropriate place is in mid air. I'll be damned if I have to deal with whatever debaucle customer service would be for this kind of machining error, so i think I'll just file them myself to make em work.

Maybe it's just this batch? The machining looks pretty ugly, like they used an endmill with a downrake.

Edit: after writing this I f'd around some more, found out that if you tighten the screw all the way it pulls it off the leaf spring, so the post is too short on the left, but imo too long on the right, maybe not? The lands are actually nice, the trhow is perfect from in line with bolt to just above trigger guard, but both positions act safe.

The factory t81 safety has a big rounded bezel, these don't, so I'll file one of those in and widen the gap by 1/32", add a small washer to the left side, and all should be well. I'm willing to mess with one in the process of fixing this issue for the people, before attempting to refund the others.

I’d love to see some pics/owner reports of it posted in Red Rifles if anyone’s received theirs

Your footer is awesome man. I'm pissed cause I was set up to buy a ptrd a few days before the ban. I was too paranoid to buy it anyway. Too afraid of upsetting the glorious leader, praise the glorious leader, and getting a tenner.

No longer offered on their web site ?
Sold out ? or was there an issue with them ?

Thanks for the callback regarding installation of my new gas regulator, it was much appreciated! Great service and parts, I’m sure I’ll be a steady customer now that I’m an owner of a wk180 lol!
