New Type 95 rail system

so when can we get this or atleast a price. Ie say its 150$ then it would be a good alternative for those not wanting to chop the t97.

I like the FTU design better still.

I depends on what you want, right? I don't want to take a hacksaw to my rifle, so for me, and I suspect many others, the FTU isn't even an option.

I also prefer the aesthetic, people say it's FAMAS-esque, but I think what it does with the iron sights makes it look vaguely HK

Chinese FTU here

YES! That one with the completely flat top and side charging handle is exactly what is needed

Can you say FTU 2.0?

Make it happen M14.ca!

i can definitely dig the flat top. This would push me to t97 ownership. TBH, I don't really like the look of the FTU. I always thought the design in this chinese model could be pulled off.

Aside from "can we get it?", the price will strongly dictate if it will be worth asking for. If it's the same price as the FTU, I'd pass. Half the cost of the FTU or around that mark, I'm in.

That last one with the flat top is NOT a T97... its certainly a variant but I'm going to go out on a limb and say the way it functions is too far from how a T97 functions for it to be a convert. Could be a next generation though.

Still, I don't see why people have such a problem with installing an FTU on the T97. The fact you need to cut a piece off is inconsequential when you figure the benefits the FTU adds. Once you install it, you'll never want to take it off anyway. But, to each his own I guess. Id rather buy from a canadian company... even if the parts are going on a chinese rifle.

Am I the only one who noticed what appears to look like 7.62x39 mags??

The T97 is a variant of the Chinese army's QBZ95. Any chinese development will be for that rifle, which just uses a different calibre and AK style mags.

The only real design difference is that the bolt carrier has a side charging handle (maybe swappable, it looks SCAR inspired) rather than a top charging handle. The gas adjustment might be moved or omitted to make room for the folding sight if it is indeed a real rifle at all.

It's my experience that native Iron sights perform noticeably better than rail mounted ones. I primarily shoot with irons. (My AR has a fixed carry handle, and I get excellent results).

I also imagine that many people are turned off by something as seemingly crude as taking a hacksaw to a perfectly good rifle. I'm sure it's fine but the perception is there.

As would I. I even pitched the concept (of the FAMAS-style/ carry handle with built in rails) to the T97.ca team to see if they would be interested in making something similar. To say they were adverse to the very idea would be an understatement, and they deleted the thread after what felt like a hostile discussion, which included them editing my posts, which I thought was pretty strange and made me feel vaguely uncomfortable. I was surprised by their reaction when a simple reply of "it does not fit our design philosophy" would have more than sufficed.
