New type of skeet shooting in Saskatchewan???

Saskatchewan clay shooters, as those in all other areas, sometimes develop their own ways of doing things. This Fall I shot with some crazy guys from around Willow Bunch. We heckled, cheered, booed, challenged, missed easy shots, made some dillies, and so on. I haven't shot in a properly organized trap or skeet shoot, nor any other organized shotgun challenge. This is not because I am against such things, far from it.

Over the years, we mostly just gathered out in a field somewhere and spent the afternoon firing lots of warning shots and having lots of good laughs. I shot at clay pigeons for a few years with my Dad's old Tobin double, full chokes. We all used what we had, and had fun.

Kudos to the people who spend their time organizing and putting on these shoots.

Not quite sure what you are seeing on that page as I don't see anything that would be a new game in skeet. Skeet doubles has been part of the registered (NSSA sanctioned) shooting program for years. When you see shooters listed as high all around on 500 target shooting events it is 100 each of 12ga/20ga/28ga/410bore and 100 doubles sub-events to make up the total 500 targets. Doubles skeet is also how ties are determined in all events on a shoot until a person misses winner take the title scenario.

It does look like they have consolidated the clay sports under one association which is interesting. ATA,NSSA and CNSCA all sharing a homepage. Not the worst idea. Strength in numbers.

I believe any business owner reading this post will realize the importance of "First Impressions" when selling their product.

Any anomaly that has been detected would be corrected. Accuracy in your business message is of upmost importance. Otherwise you will fail.

That is all I have to say.

Yes they just used a pic of someone shooting trap on the skeet link to their page. No big deal. After all every backyard informal clays shooter thinks what they are doing is called "skeet shooting" and that the targets are called "skeets" anyways so why confuse them any further? I've met alot of "skeet" shooters in my day that have never set foot on a skeet field...

I have met several people that were self proclaimed great skeet shooters until they actually shot skeet for the first time.;)

Ain't that the truth !!!

I have shot a lot of " clays" over the years, I don't know of any skeet ranges, Maybe Regina?
I have shot them with a what ever that hell I happen to have. I am piss poor at it, But Guess what, I don't care.

Sounds like me. The upside is that we get to shoot at the same bird more than once! :p We usually tried to pick a spot where the birds had a soft landing, and every so often we took a break and went out to gather the unbroken ones.

ShotgunSports.ca, looks like with the support of Sask. lotteries they have started a group that promotes all the shooting sports. All three shotgun sports schedules, program, etc. available on one homepage.

A little vague at this point, assume they lost a little momentum in 2020 like everyone else.

Still in Canada (though it's becoming less recognizable). Sorry I missed your thread. Any level of cooperation is good news. Thanks for (re)sharing the news.

I am fortunate enough to belong to a shooting club that has over lying trap and skeet stations. This layout opens up a whole new world of shooting games that spells nothing but f-u-n.
The 2 most common ones are called SKrap and TReet.
Skrap is a long range game were we shoot trap thown birds from the 7 skeet stations. We shoot it as a marathon game were the idea is to be the last shooter still having any of their original 25 rds left. All shooters start on Skeet 1 and try to break 1 bird with the fewest no of shoots, break a bird and you are ready for Sk 2. We use a max of 5 attempts on ea station. Move around the skeet field 1 station at a time ti No 7 and then work back ...6-5-4 and so on. When you are out of shells [25] you are out of the game. Last person standing wins. A fun game with lotd og hooting, hollering and jeering.
TReet is just the opposite. Skeet birds from the 5 trap stations. Its close & fast with open chokes. All squad shooters line up behind TR 1. Ea shooter in turn shoots H-L-H-L-H and it goes pretty fast. Then move to TR 2 and repeat.....same for 3-4-5. Guaranteed that both these games will make you a better sporting clays shooter.

....and theres more. The Tincup Special is one of them. Try the first 2 and then pm me for the TC Special details.......even more fun. Sometimes 3 different shooters may shoot at the same bird ln turn [or piece of it] and shooter #2 scores 2pts for a hit and shooter #3 scores 3 pts for a hit.......fun-fun-fun-till my daddy took my shotgun [t bird] away.....:) Enjoy, it will help make your Happy New Year.
