The original finish is solid. All the sharp edges are showing and many scratches. Like I said, I new it was used, I just didn't know that the extent of use would be hidden by magic marker.

Marker won't fill in any scratches, they would still be very visible before you removed it if it was marker.
Might be a paint pen, nail polish, but not likely marker to fill in paint scratches.

I've had stuff that looks like it was painted by a 5 year old on at least a few occasions. I passed on a scope once that seller couldn't sell due to scratches and marks... couple months later it came up but had a facelift by a 5 year old. Still had the old email pics showing same serial number and all the original scratches. Leave negative for sure, do us all the courtesy.

post up some pictures. how bad is it? just curious to see how badly someone tried to cover it up, theres a lot of ink on that towel

Need pics of the rifle, not just dirty rags...

And I agree about negative feedback. Especially if the person who sold it won't give a partial refund for misrepresenting the item or something...

There are many gun solvents that will remove paint. You need to be careful with what you are rubbing on there.

You can see the reciever in the pic, well enough to tell how bad it is, look closely. A Henry with a lot scratches, that sucks op. Did the black come off revealing the scratches or is it coming off the whole receiver and the scratches were always visible?

Here's the pic I was sent. He offered to send more but I was satisfied based on this one.

Yeeeeeeeah......... refund or not, if it looked nothing like that and the other party didn't disclose the fact it was painted, and or the obvious wear & tear......

Negatory Feedback is warranted. Used rifle or not, that's bu!!sh!t.

I had a scope with some sharpie work.
I asked specifically about condition and scratches to which they replied that it was as new with no marks of any kind.
However this was the only bad experience I have had on here. AfterI left negative feedback he offered me $80, so i took the money and changed the feedback to positive but with a note about condition. I have otherwise had excellent experiences both buying and selling.

Yep, never been misled like this. He's been contacted twice. Will wait until tomorrow before sending feedback. Anybody know of a good durable paint?!!!
