Buying used scopes as an example some people "sharpie" the ring marks to hide them.Dishonest is still dishonest......Harold

I find it hard to believe the seller was unaware of the cover up job. If you handled that rifle at all, the oil from your skin would cause whatever it was coloured with to come off and stain your hands. It would have definitely been negative feedback t'were it me.

No need to rip the guy. It's his deal and he can decide the manner in which he chooses to respond. It might not be how someone else might do it but he's hardly throwing "EE members under the bus." He is apparently giving the benefit of the doubt to the seller who claims he didn't know and that is his decision to make.

How dare you encourage independent thought????? You sir, are a disgrace!!!!!

/sarcasm off

I'd leave a negative review with a full explanation. The rest of us EE users need to know who we're dealing with and feedback from others is a very important reference.
How could one think that this BS would go unnoticed or unpunished ??

Guy at our club discovered the sharpie scratch cover up when he cleaned the 586 he just bought. The seller was taking it back but he really really wanted it as he's Polish and the gun had some historical connection to Poland.
