New USP 9mm Range Report

Yeah that would be used.

For IPSC, I hate to say it, but the SP-01 leaves the USP for dead. I have used my USP for 4 years in Production, but recently got an SP-01 with fibre optic front and it is like a new game.

That said, USP's are still outstanding pistols.

If this is who I think it is...

I just realized that this isn't who I think it is... although he did have a USP with the stainless slide, it was another variant - I just noticed this when looking (read: drooling) at the pics one more time.

Damn fine guns though, for sure.

HK takedown

The pic should explain it, but if you hold the gun in your right hand, and wrap your left hand over the top of the slide, slide it back until the pin is lined up with the slide catch, then clamp down on it with your hand so it doesn't move from that position, you can just reach to the other side of the gun and pop the slide release pin out with your right hand index finger. No q-tips or pens, etc. needed.

Doc M. Yeah that was me and a buddy of mine taking the USP out for a maiden blast. It wasn't a 22/45, it was a MKIII Target he was shooting. It was his first time shooting anything, I thought he did pretty damn good, even with the .40.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. As far as my disassembly question I was more asking about how to get the lever all the way out of the side of the pistol. The first time I did it I used a mechanical pencil with the lead retracted. I have a qtip with the cotton removed in my cleaning box now for that purpose. As far as just pushing it out w/ my finger goes I can't seem to push it out far enough to get my fingers around the lever to pull it from the frame. Either way, no big deal.

I've been trying my best to take it out again this weekend but an IPSC shoot and a 6pm closing have prevented me from doing so. I'm going to try to make it to phoenix tomorrow sometime and go blasting. Anyone want to come? I'm new to town, have a small collection of hand held shooting irons and have 0 gun buddies thus far.

Theory -

I've gone and out-thought myself!

First time that's happened in a while... :D

Seriously, that's a great rig - and sorry for the missed call on the Ruger; I just caught a quick glimpse and saw a stainless .22 with a Bull Barrel... with the popularity of the things at P&D lately, I just assumed it'd be a .22/45.

As a heads-up, I'm thinking about picking up one of the USP Compacts in .45 that they've got kicking around at P&D... If you ever catch me at the range with it, be sure to come and give 'er a run - hopefully BEFORE I run the ammo dry like I did last time!

And to anyone in the Edm area who's interested in shooting with Theory, I'll vouch for the fact that he's definitely good ####!

I ment I use the pen lid to push the slide relase further out so I dont have to wiggle it back and forth to get it out. I hold it pretty similiar except more like grabbing a bar.

USP mags are not expensive. They used to be more, like $60 a piece. I have purchased them in the USA for around $8 US.
I think they are going for $15 -$17 US for 10rd mags.

Prices are going back up again in the USA. HK must have had a surplus or something. Anyway, they are getting back to the old prices, and they've never been cheap in Canada except for the few that TSE had awhile back.

9mm? Its more accurate cause its cheaper so you get to shoot it twice as much. Honestly Im not so sure...I am amazed my the stock accuracy in this thing..the factory fired 50m groupings are pretty crazy.

The only drawback is break in time on the trigger..unless you get one with match trigger..

I got a jam this past weekend, one jam in over 8000 rds.
some type of sticky crap was on my mag followers? Could have been from previous practice session at the range, as I don't clean my mags that often.

I just got some more mags for my USP.

Thanks to a hot tip from a CGN'er, I was able to scoop up 3 10 round 9mm factory HK mags for $60CDN, shipped right to my door! Incredible. For a little more than I paid for 1 226 mag, I got 3.

This USP is working out nicely.

Any opinions on which is the most accurate USP.....9mmP or .40cal S&W?
(not interested in a .45ACP ;) )

9mm and the match version shoots well well... a certain gunnut was taking out thumb tacks /w it...
