New Vanguard S2

It is a 2 stage in the S2 isnt it? That might explain it for anyone who normally shoots singles.

In my experience with the two stage trigger (25-30 rounds so far) in my S2 Vanguard the trigger takes some getting used to.
I knew it was a two stage, but had no previous trigger time with one and I am gaining some favor with it. It just feels odd the first couple of times one pulls the trigger. Its all about feel and in the end either one will like it or they wont.

I've never shot an S2, but my S1 in 30-06 is wonderful. A quick adjustment to the trigger and no take-up, clean break, and just a pleasure. For those of you who own both, how do you stack them up to each other?

Thanks,
Cal.

I have an S2 in .300WM on layaway at Prophet River right now, can't wait to get it. I haven't ever shot a 2 stage trigger, but generally like a little creep in the trigger anyways, and the whole idea of .5lbs then another 2.5 to break appeals to me.

Must be why I love shooting my old M91....

If the trigger on the S2 is supposed to be a two stage, I am quite unimpressed, it's more of a squishy single with a clean break.

The S2 has a two stage trigger, and a very good one at that!

The takeup [first stage] is light and when you get to the end of that, it is a clean break for the second stage,
which, of course, is adjustable.

My two went down below 3 lbs with ease, but I hunt my rifles at 3 lbs, so all I need.

I also have 3 - S1 Vanguards, and while two of those triggers are fine after adjustment,
the third one got a Timney after a bit of frustration with it.

All in all, the Vanguards are a winner! All mine are perfect for their intended purpose - hunting.

Hmm, I think I got a bum trigger, will investigate later, because the take up feels like its dragging on something, although uniformly. That's why I didn't think it was a two stage, and rated the trigger less than ideal. Feels a lot like a misadjusted Timney or something.

I'll admit I had no idea it was supposed to be a two stage! Lol.
