new vs old?

Any older rem and marlin will be very good, just be carefull if you buy a new one, check it completely inside out before leaving the store with it... JP

New can be nice, shiny, readily available...

But old have AMAZING workmanship (often by hand more than machine), history, character & quite often unbelievable wood in the stock.

My recently purchased Firearms Co. Alpine 7mm has this beautiful European Walnut wood stock making a fantastic tiger pattern. :D
(but I suppose some black synthetic stocks are ok for some)

This is why they make lots of flavours of ice cream. The owner thinks that stock is beautiful. To me, that stock is an eyesore. I'm sure he would feel the same about some of my rifle stocks.:p

my hunting buddy has a 60's husky in .30-06. still runs open sights... stills knocks down his share of deer every year.

DAMN good gun. But, I'm an old gun guy... don't like the laminate/stainless... like the blued/wood. but... damn good gun

'nuff said!

I'm kind of a fan of blued and nice wood myself. Nothing shabby about the '06 and I inherited this model 4000 Husqvarna Lightweight in 30-06 from my Dad.
