Here's Warden, my new pup. Poacher is only 9 years old this November but his injuries from the car accident a few years ago have really slowed him down and despite a near starvation diet, he's showing his age and weight -- this will likely be his last season hunting and even then we'll work him lightly.

The new pup is a bright one and already has the drive for birds. We brought back a few grouse last night and the little bugger was beside himself with trying to grab them and run away. Should be a fun year.

Great photos.
Do you see what I see in the first photo? :) :) :)
Amazing....

Ummmm. Apparently not.

I don't see it either, can you elaborate!!

I'd venture it's something like this:

Two young brothers, who obviously love each other AND their new pup, posing for a picture with the newest member of the family.

I see strong family values, a happy and healthy home, and two young men (and one dog) who will never grow up robbing old ladies of their bingo money - though they'll be sure to help plenty cross the street or carry their groceries home.

I see two sons being raised right, by a father and mother who obviously care for them a great deal.

That's what I see in that first photo, anyway.

Looks like the young fellow holding the pup and the pup
have the same content expression.

We have the same thing going on here with the new pup and the old pup.
Great to see the two dogs getting along.

Great photos, thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys,

This is going to be a great season I think. My oldest starts to hunt this year when he turns 12 on the 22nd of this month and even though the season is open now it's been hard for me to get into hunting since he can't yet. I missed the waterfowl opener for the first time since moving here 16 years ago. Going tonight though with the old dog and a couple of friends. Hunting ducks in 30 degree weather just seems wrong on some level though.

Love the way you phase it Doc, and I agree whole heartedly. It sure is nice to see kids following in the right footsteps.
I like that camo knee patch too! ;)
Well done sjemac!
