Has anyone seen any of these in Canada? They look pretty sweet.

I saw one pop up on the Ellwood Epps website but I think it was sold before they even posted it. I wonder if a CGNer bought it. Anybody else get to see one of these yet?

Winchester needs to make an effort with the quality and finish of the wood on these rifles.

Agree the rest is gorgious. :) But....

They look ok until you have them in your hand and see what passes for wood. There was one at my FLGS and I went there
to see it with the intention to buy. I could not do it after I saw it. It sold right away of course but I would have been
disappointed to own it.

The Italian repros on the other hand have too much finish and the brass is too yellow. Looks like they melted down ashtrays from India.

Really recommend that you see one first in person to judge.

Mirokus in general or the specific 1886 mentioned

Both. The non case coloured Mirokus are the worst of the lot.

The 1886 was the one I passed on. Wood was dull and lifeless.

Looks ok in an image. Eye gets drawn to the reciever finish and the lines of the firearm. In my hands
the effect was very much different. The rest of the rifle made the wood look bad.

I love the rifle. Just IMO see it in person first rather than buy online etc.

Buy the older Browning, no bs lawyer safety etc and you will be happy:)

That tang safety removes easily and covers over neatly with a tang sight. AS for the wood thing ...the wood on mine does a great job for its intended purpose, a handle to facilitate accurate shooting.

I've owned a couple and found the wood to metal fit was perfect and the quality of wood was nice but it looked like it had one coat of stain on it and that was it. I suppose it could be rubbed with some linseed oil a few times. I'm patiently waiting to see this new deluxe case hardened. I really want one.

If one goes the Italian route, the Pedersoli 1886 Sporting Rifle is the best of the bunch.

I had the Miroku Winchester 1873 case hardened rifle and as others have noted, the wood, though well fitted
was rather plain.

The beauty with the Pedersoli rifles is that they have no extra safety crap and they shoot damn accurate plus
the Turkish walnut is usually very nice. I love my 86/71.

here is one I don't get either. I bought a 20008 M70 supergrade and the wood wasn't that amazing at all. You would think for those prices they would do a bit better.....I have also ssen some that were amazing. The gun shot better than any though.

Also,
for these new Winchesters that are of higher grade, why in the heck don't the grip caps say Winchester on them? They should be like the old ones, no?
