New Winchester 94 "Takedown"

I love the concept, but hate the scope mount.

In fact, I can live without the whole thing. If it was available in 45-70 I'd be interested. Not 450 Marlin though.

Why do you prefer the 45-70 over the 450 Marlin? Just curious.

I'm not saying I'm going to rush out and buy one either that's for sure. I do think they'll sell though. For the guys that like all the bells and whistles (and they're out there) instead of dropping a G note plus at Wild West or the like for them to tear up your Marlin into a take down with their mounts, sights etc. you can just pay $700 for a Winnie with all the bling done at the factory :)

Plus whatever a guy wants to say about take downs they seem to appreciate, accross the board in any rifle style they are made in as they get older. Betcha you'd consider one in a Marlin bud?? You know. Just for kicks.....
 
The great thing about these takedowns is that we will be able to sell the used ones on here in years to come and save the overlength fee on shipping at the post office!:p :D

I'm guessing that its easier to find .45-70 out in the wild than .450 Marlin.

Flying in a cessna 152 or J3 Supercub a take down definitley has its place.

Mounted muzzel up on the pannel, next to the mixture control, or horizontally under the pannel, next to the pitot-static relief?:)

I am a bit of a traditionalist, but I'm also a pragmatist too (I know that a pragmatic gunnut is quite the oxymoron). I already have two 45-70's and thusly I could save myself a bit of cash not having to buy dies and dump that into another bullet mould or two, or save it towards yet another rifle.

Plus it takes me a few years to warm to new things. I've just recently decided that stainless steel, synthetic stocks and smokeless powder aren't passing fads!:D

Has anyone handled a new winchester? I love lever action guns and would like to get another but the last one I had had the worst trigger I have ever seen, it had at least half an inch creep and about a 10 lb pull. I also found the lever rattled and the factory sights were really bad. Is it possible to get a proper trigger for a winchester 94?
 
I do not know. The salesman told me when he did ordered the rifle from the representative from Browning Canada in Montreal that he would expect my rifle sooner because of the imminent Winchester factory shut down.
 
Marlin and Winchester have both made takedown models at one time or another. Product offerings seem to come and go.
 
When Browning transfered their manufacturing to Japan they still made their last guns as fine as their first ones. I do not think that the Winchester employees will butch their work.

May have collector value as being their last new design. Then again maybe Savage will buy them out and call it their Fox line. Okay where's the Bailey's?
