New Winchester 94's

The only complaint that I have ever heard, and this includes the US sites, is the initial cost, and most lament that it should be made as well, here!

You know, with Miroku(Browning)bringing these guns back and getting ridiculous money for them,i just can't understand why savage couldn't do it with the 99.I'd pay more for a traditionally built 99 than i ever would for a win 94.Just my opinion.

X3 big time.

Bigger question is why someone would pay ~ $1,100 etc for a spankin' new Win 94 when you can get a minty pre 64 Model '94 carbine for ~ $500'ish.

I'll take the pre 64 94 any day.

You can keep the ridiculously expensive Miroku Japchesters with their tang safeties and rebounding hammers and a dozen small internal parts that WILL fail over the long haul.

The Mossberg 464 is as good a levergun as the Japchesters for 1/3 the money.

I'm sorry Tick...no experience with the new ones - but I just bought a nice, unmolested 1957 Win 94' for a good price. :)

No one has answered my original question, first hand experiance with accuracy and the new Win 94

Owned 3 old 94s and 1 of them was pre 64.

All good shooters.

Had occasion to fire a Winchester/Miroku 94 at Shooter's Choice in Waterloo.

The action was as smooth as oiled glass but you can't tell much about a hunting rifles accuracy at a 25 yard maximum range.

The new "Japchesters" as they have been referred to earlier, are of outstanding quality, I purchased the 92 SRC in 44 and I can tell you it functions flawlessly. Fit and finish are better than almost any rifle out there today including pre 64's of which I own over 30. I have handled the new 94 and it appears to hold all the same virtues as my 92. I was looking for an old B92 when I saw the new winchester and forgot about the B92 immediately. These are some of the best made rifles money can buy and I don't give a rats a$$ where they are made, you have to give them their due, they are beautiful. The 44 mag is one of the most difficult cartridges to get to feed smoothly 100% of the time and my 92 does, with jacketed or cast. The 94 should be even smoother in the 30-30. If you would like a new one go right ahead and buy one with confidence that you are getting a finely made firearm that is worth the money.
This is only my experienced opinion.
For you detractors out there, your biases are showing !!! How can you badmouth a rifle you have not personally tried or possibly even seen, I challenge you to go to your local shop and pick one up and cycle it and fondle it and scutinize it, check the fit and finish, quality of wood etc. then come back and tell me it's a piece of s&&t.
The question Tick asked was are they good quality, not whether a lever gun is worth 1200 dollars or not, and my answer is a WHOLEHEARTED YES, exceptional quality.
I must beg to differ with the Mossberg reference, the mossberg and marlins although possibly functional (sometimes) are not in the same circles as these rifles. That's like comparing a cooey to an anschultz!!!

I have a thread in the 2012 shotshow section for pics and opinions.

I fully agree with c-fbmi on everything he said above. These firearms are the equal in fit and finish, and apparent quality of anything Winchester EVER built, possibly even better.
It's sad that they are built overseas, but Give Miroku credit, these are fantastic rifles.
Wish I could afford one, $ is the only down side.

Just reread your OP, as far as accuracy goes that will be an individual rifle thing, just because one rifle in a production run shoots well or poorly says nothing about any other rifle. I suspect these rifles will shoot as well as the design allows, lever gun, 2 piece stock, magazine attached to barrel etc are all known to detract from bench accuracy, but like I said within the limitations of the platform they should be just fine.

Thanks c-fbmi and John Y Cannuck
I am aware of Miruko’s reputation for quality. I am looking for a short light rifle and the new 92's fit the bill perfectly. And it will be in 44 Rem Mag with 20 barrel. Im off to the gun shop in the morning.
Take Care
