New Winchester model 70?!?

wholesale sports told me that they dont have any in, and they wouldn't even take my name on a wait list. They said pretty much "good luck on your quest" in finding a model 70. I'd say fall of 09 for any kind of selection at all.

IIRC they are starting to trickle into stores in the States.

.

X2, they've just hit the shelves in the US this week. I still don't think we'll see them before spring, as the US is only seeing 2 calibers in the wood/blued. Nothing available in the SS yet, or in short action.

Has anyone seen these in Canada yet? If so is the trigger all it is hyped up to be?

The new 70 is a fine tribute to the Model 70 line. The trigger is very crisp with no creep and overall, the gun feels and shoots like a fine hunting rifle. I've got one on order but guessing we won't see them up here till spring or even summer 2009.

If it's that hard to get one, the hell with them there's plenty of new rifles out there that are just as good as the M70........ I WON'T WAIT !!! Buy used or a Rem700 or Ruger M77 ... maybe a Sav. who knowns.

There was a post of two in Victoria, one was sold the other still available at the time of the post.

I wonder what was wrong with the Mdl 70 trigger? I always thougth it was a very good trigger.

You were right. It was one of the best designed hunting rifle triggers ever IMO. The 'execution' was all that was lacking......

I am disappointed with the new trigger and think putting a 'housed' trigger on the M70 is a step backwards.

Still, it's good to see them back.:)

wholesale calgary has a couple of the anniversary featherweights with the engraving on the trap door in 3006 and one in 270

russel sports has one in stock, or did, i played with the trigger, its very nice from the factory setting, and after reading up on it, looks like they tried to make their trigger system similar, but not the exact same to an xmark by rem
