Yep, you read it correct.
Woodleigh have just released a 240gn Protected Point for 30 cal & more specifically the 30-06 for its 100th Anniversary.
The idea is that it has immense sectional density and penetration designed to knock over a buff from reasonably short distances.
They're published top load is 2350fps pushed by 54gn of H4831SC.
Here's the page talking about it:

So, what do you think?
These Water Buffs aren't as mean as a Cape Buffalo but fail to deliver a stunning blow first shot and they're about as forgiving.:(
The page talks about it being for commercial culling but even still I'm not convinced.
Could be perfect for those days you're packing a 30-06 as bear defense.;)
What's the consensus?

I just ran their bullet through twist calculator, and it appears by the #'s that a 1 in 10 twist will even stablize it.
Bear from the tree stand anyone.

Hmmmm.....I have been thinking about what bullet to choose when I load for bear defense w/ my newly acquired 30-06. :) The idea would be an "under-the-truck-seat-rifle" for when I'm out camping with the family.

This sounds pretty tempting!

I am waiting as well  :(

would be a good 200ish yard load for bear and moose me thinks

won't do anything in reality that a 168 TSX will do, but it'd be fun :)

240 grn

I have wanting to try a 250 grn Barnes in my 06 for a while now but was not able to find it. I wanted to try it for bears and I was going to try it in my 300 win mag as well.

I wanted it for a close bear gun when I am calling for them in the spring.

I guess I will try this 240 grn.

Anyone know who would be selling them in the near future?

Greg

alberta coyote caller.....................Wildcat Bullets out of Westaskiwin makes bonded bullets in .30 cal from 130 to up to 250 grains, including 200,210,225, 240 and the 250's. They are flat base mag tip style and available in two jacket thicknesses.

Owners name is Richard Graves...check out his website.

The Protected Point is basically a Mag Tip anyway.
Woodleigh tends to build them with heavier jackets as they're designed for the magnums in mind.
