New World Record Set for Farthest Long-Range Rifle Shot: 4.4 Miles

I do not mean to high jack this post but i am not sure where to go for some questions i have on a Cadex Rifle, and could point me in the right direction. Im looking to purchase a R7 LCP but i just found out about the Kraken multi Caliber rifle. and was wondering if it would be worth it to spend some more money to get that ? also if anyone knows of a Kraken in stock or what pricing would be for it and the cost of a caliber conversion kit, or if a guy should wait until Christmas time to see if any sales come up.

I once hit a raccoon at over 1000 yds with a 243. Took over 30 shots, walking bullets all around it throwing up dust, until one happened to hit it. It wasn't stationary either. Any shot is repeatable when you take 69 of them
 
Yea to me it just seems like lobbing lead and see what it hits. Kind of llike when I asked my Dad why they had 2000 yard rear sight elevation on Enfield's and he said that it could be used if the enemy was advancing up the other side of the hill the bullets landing might deter them.
It se emed to make sense to a13 year old.

Good shooting with the venerable 30-06, most likely had to pack a lunch to the target check, I restrict myself two kilometers only.
 
I honestly don't care how many rounds it took to get there, but he only hit it once and called it a day. Only counts if you hit it twice IMO. With only 1 hit for all we know his dope was still off and he flinched it onto the plate.

Still impressive don't get me wrong. Even just being in the ball park at that range is amazing. Just confirm it with a second shot is all I'm saying.

Big talk from the shooting community... irony is that your walk down the target line at most ranges I have seen and most can't group at 100m.
 
One the other hand I once fired my 300 WM into the sky at about a 35 degree angle the bullet hit dead center of something probably about 5 miles away, and I did this with just one shot.

Interesting point. I met a real wanker at a party a few years ago bragging about climbing Everest. Time, money, and a support from a few skilled people can result in great achievements.
Not to say this was not impressive but if it is true that it took 60 shots walk it in, I will sit on the fence on this one.

1km with irons....that's my kind of impressive as well.
