New x95 Micro Tavor

I have a full size tavor so I know what's "bullpup" for sure

If you count the length of 223 ammo which will be the minimum size of eject port and double it
For the room for bolt carrier to cycle. Tell me how much length left ??
will it be easily less than 7.5" ???

PS. Overall length for 223 is 2.26" so double it is 4.52" you have 3" left for the spring and buffer etc
Plus some gap needed In order to make the gun work. Tell me how is this possible ?

Love one....if it was 9mm.

I was thinking the same thing, except 7.62x39. Yes, I know it won't happen, but I can dream.

Tell me how can a gun be less than 26" if it already has a 18.5" barrel ?? lol

I mean if a gun has a 18.5" barrel. The rest the gun has to be shorter than 7.5" in order to be shorter than 26" overall

How can this happen??

It can happen if the action and buttstock are shorter than 7.5". Not likely, but certainly not impossible.

Ztunelover if its shorter then 26" it is considered a pistol and therefore restricted.

f:P: Where does this sh!t come from? A handgun is a gun designed to be fired one handed, as defined in the criminal code. Any rifle does not ever fit that description, no matter how short. The CC states that long guns shorter than 26" OAL are restricted. It has nothing to do with handguns, because long guns are dealt with on their own, according to their own specific features.

You presume the bolt carrier needs to be as long as the round it is cycling and that the recoil spring and buffer (which is not required at all) must sit behind the bolt carrier. None of these are required elements of a firearms design. No one said it was common, or a reasonable way to build a rifle, but it is very much a physical possibility.

I've warmed up to the whole bullpup concept as my Tavor TAR-21 has kind of grown on me. I think I'd buy the micro in 9mm in a heartbeat, even if restricted if/when they land on our shores. With the price of ammo these days, even with reloading, the 9mm offers a lot more shooting fun than the 5.56mm. :(

Telescoping bolt - a la MAC10. Never to my knowledge been done, but possible

If the bolt carrier not as much long as the round
How can it cover the eject port when the bolt closed ?

I hasnt seem any bullpup which has 7.5" left over length after the barrel

Maybe you can show me an example ??

Mac10 is a blowback. and most of bullpup is rifle

Ok. Maybe it's physically possible but it won't make any sense to do it

So as long as they make a 18.5" NR barrel for us
we should be fine for overall length

Not trying to be a kill joy here, but after the recent crap with the possibility of losing a number of firearms, I'll be waiting until that is taken care of and no longer a threat before I start buying expensive firearms again. Many of us are already looking at the possibility of losing a number of our cool black rifles. Who's to say the Tavor and all "variants" aren't on the chopping block a few years later? We need to get this crap taken care of first. Then yes the X95 has been a firearm I've been interested in since I bought my Tavor. Just thought I'd bring this up. As right now it's rough times for black rifle owners. Get the reclassification stopped first!!

Agreed, all it takes is a pen and a piece of paper - get writing guys, or the only writing that will count will be the writing on the wall for ALL black rifles.

Well for one, the bolt doesn't actually have to close the ejection port for the rifle to function, it just helps keep crap out of the action. Additionally, it does not need to be the bolt that closes the ejection port, I believe that the VEPRs in 7.62x54R use a small dust cover attached to the bolt and recoil spring in such a manner that it "telescopes" over the larger ejection port. Another solution would be to use a forward ejection system a la RFB or F2000. Also, pistol caliber carbines can cycle in much less space than rifle calibers. And finally, a blow-forward action (yes that is a thing that exists) were the barrel cycles forwards instead of the bolt cycling backwards, would allow the barrel to seat almost all the way into the stock of the weapon. And, as others have mentioned, the recoil spring need not be placed behind the bolt, one example of such a design being the M14.

None if this is particularly practical, and no-one in a position to buy or sell large quantities of such things considers it worth the extra mechanical complexity in order to fit a couple more inches of barrel into such a small rifle.

Why does it have to? That can be covered by a spring loaded door or other arrangement. The bolt carrier could extend forward under the handguard (similar to the action bars on a pump action shotgun), the recoil spring could be there as well, wrapped around the gas tube or barrel. Just because we have a current orthodoxy of design in black rifles doesn't mean there aren't other ways to skin the cat. If one was designing the shortest possible rifle instead of a full sized battlefield tool the design decisions would be made differently and the outcome would look quite different as well.

Damn, I never thought about the Garand/M14 action as a good example, but it actually fits pretty well with much of what I described above...

Have you convinced yourself yet?

Firearms design theory has been a hobby of mine for quite a while, I've been playing around with the idea of designing my own rifle just for the heck of it too, it helps to learn from as many of history's best and worst designers as possible

I'm sure you can probably figure out which category Mr. Garand fits into ;)

If they bring it in, I for one will buy one! Beauty is as beauty does...........Just like the F117A, some said it was very ugly, but when you can sneak into hostile territory unnoticed and operate with impunity....its pretty cool. I didn't think I would like the full size Tavor, until I held one and found that I could not let it go again! I knew then that the Tavor designers got it right so I will buy into a X95 if I see one!

Brother, that is the point of the most current threats from the authorities against the SA and the Kriss Vector and all the others on their hit list! Its like Firearms terror, if they can make you fearful then they win, one more gun that you don't buy is a win for them. If they can get you to modify your life and not pick up that shiny new black rifle then they win!
