New XCR Owners

I talked to P&D in Edmonton today to find out if they got in on the order in time and was told maybe next month. I'm still #1 on the list there but will have to wait a little longer.
I was disappointed but at least I still have the SL8-4 to play with until then. Once I get the XCR the SL8 is going up for sale.

Robarm is telling people on ARF the 7.62X39 version is coming in April- but C-product website is saying summer for the mag. You got the idea?

Why all the fuss about the C-Products 7.62X39 Mag ? Its designed to solve problems for high cap ( over 10rds ) with the tapered 7.62X39 case . We are limited to 5 rds here so this doesnt do anything for you ( other than its stainless steel )

There are a few good 7.62X39 10rd mags that are currently available and that can be pinned to 5 that work just fine. I used these 10rds when I was living in the states and they ran great

Example the USA Magazines Inc . They are marked 7.62X39 which is good because you can actually stuff 6 5.56 rounds in a pinned for 5 7.62X39 mag .

Note angle of floorplate

Ummm. I feel stupid asking this, and have been ducking at the thought of doing so for a long time. Why would anyone want a 7.62x39 in a modern rifle? I'm thinking cheap bulk ammo, but .223 ammo is pretty cheap. Can someone please enlighten me?

I doubt it. From what I have read, and pics I have seen, the bolt on the xcr is quite sturdy. 3 massive lugs ala ak. should be enough material there for the larger diameter case of 7.62x39

For me its a matter of already having 3 223/5.56 rifles . Its nice to have variety

If the XRC in 7.62x39 takes AK mags, it would be a great weapon to have in Afghanistan and all the places you may need to use captured mags... Plus, that caliber is better in some circumstances, at closer range... I would love and XCR with an AK mag adaptor!

I think KevinB has touched on this issue of calibre before. I remember him saying 5.56 is more than adequate for the job in Iraq and Afghanistan.

.17 cents but what choices of ammo do you have to draw from? I guess you have to handload if you want hunting bullets. If that's the case, it's probably as cheap oir cheaper to handload .223, isn't it?

i am willing to bet that the majority of blackguns see thousands of rounds through them. handloading is more when you try for serious target shooting, not just an afternoon of having fun.

Your better getting different 5.56mm loads if you want to upgrade certain aspects.
M995 AP will out pentrate ANY 7.62x39 round thru any medium.
M855 and Mk262 will do so 99% of the other jobs.

I've never seen the appeal of 7.62x39 - other than its cheap.

The only commie round I like is 7.62x54R -- and thats due to the PKM...
