New XCR Owners

Throttle_monkey: Fo Sho. Hell, they're non-restricted, we don't even need to go to the range ;) Can't wait for the next "Edmonton Gopher Outing"!

Put another 100 rounds thru my XCR down S. of the border todau at the range. Got an aimpoint for a present but took it back and exchanged it for an Eotech 512. I couldn't co-witness with the Aimpoint unless I special ordered a high rise or adjustable height mount which is expensive. I sighted in the Eotech by lining them up to my sites and they POI was very close. It took about 20 shots at 25 Meters to get it right. I got the Eotech that takes AA batteries. I mounted the site very far forward . I now have 450 rounds thru here and have had 0 failures or jams. Next time out I will try some Wolf steel cased .223. Robarms states to not use Wolf in the first 300 round break in. Also next time out I will start to close down the gas port . I;ve only shot on # 4 setting during the break in. I'll close it down to # 3 next time. Accuracy is good but then I'm not a tack driver shooter. The indoorr range I shoot at is only 25 meters and I can do guaranteed consistant head shoots. with 4 inch groups standing up with only hand support.

Great gun, realiable. With the Eotech mounted far forward and the AL. vertical grip installed, its starting to get a little front heavy but is still doable. With Canada's 18.5 barrel , I wonder how it will affect balance. Remember I have the light 16 in. barrel. Hope you guys get your soon. :ar15:

Thanks for the update leek, always nice to hear from you! Ya, ours are probably going to be a little front-heavy with the 18.6" HBAR, but up here thats the price we pay for non-restricted status!

Maybe if I can ever manage to pay the XCR off I'll pick up a lightweight 10.5" shorty AR range blaster ;)

Bump.

When you rich, lucky bastards get your new toys, you're not allowed to take them to the range until you post lots of pictures and as soon as you get back you must post a range report. :D :D

That is all,
Thank you for your participation.

Thanks for the field report ... I just added myself to the list for a restricted one

Anyone know what the barrel length on these badboys will be?

I am still waiting to get my greedy hands on one. Word from John is that they are at customs right now, so maybe I will see mine next week.

Nothing like spreading unfounded rumours! The firing pin recall is not applicable to the Canadian XCR rifles. That recall was handled a long time ago. I just called RA to confirm it. We have waited 2 years for these, the only good thing with that wait is that there has been time to work all the bugs out.

Pictures will follow ASAP, but it is Friday and we have lots to do before supper.

Well see Wolverine, thanks to you people now know you made sure the defective rifles dont make it to Canada. If I hadnt brought it up how would people know? But I think it also goes to point out the XCR is starting out similarly to the M96 that you carried and had to do the updates for the other recalls on that gun. I sure hope robarm has ironed out the kinks, but one would have thought they would have done that when they put there rifle into military trials, not two years after and a few months after its release there is a recall.
