Below is the text of an e-mail I received from my son, Al. He's referring to his son and my grandson, Matty who turned 12 years old on March 23.

Hi Gang,
Matty completed his Canadian Firearms Safety Course this weekend. He was the only student in the class under 30 yrs old. At the risk of sounding boastful I will say he was one of 2 students who acquired a mark of 100% on the written exam. Very proud of him. In September he'll take the Hunters Safety course and will be a full fledged hunter with our hunt club. Man, how time flies.

Needless to say I'm pretty proud of the young lad and more than pleased that I'll be hunting with him this fall. He's actually been coming out and joining us for a day or two on the watches or accompanying his father dogging for the the last couple of years. Now he'll be able to hunt not just observe and wish. :)

I can still remember the emotions that ran through me!
The antisipation was unbearable! Sleep the night before a hunt was nearly non-exsistant. Except for the last hour before I was awaken for the hunt! Lol!

Life almost seemed to revolve around the passion of hunting and the outdoors!

Never underestimate the value a new hunter/ child gives to thier Hunting mentors. Lets get them hopelessly hooked on the sport we love!

NICE!!! I hope your grandson has a VERY successful hunting season!

And, you've every reason to be proud!!!

Cheers
Jay
