Well fellas, I just got home and finished installing my new Zenit-BelOMO PK-05W from Interammo on my Remington 597 VTR. The cost in total was $251.25, though I was refunded the $15 shipping fee in cash because I picked it up in person.
My experience with the reps (Veniamin and Viktor) was totally pleasant from start to finish; they answered all of my questions quickly and succinctly, it took me only three days from initial contact to having the red dot in my hand.
Initial impressions of the unit are as follows:
Construction and mount seem rock solid, from what I understand this red dot has been tested to "withstand heavy recoil and severe weather conditions", though I have yet to take it out to the range to test.
The three reticles are bright, sharp and easy to acquire. There is a dot, a sort of german reticle sans dot, then the german reticle with dot. It's worth mentioning that there are only two light settings, an automatic and a manual setting. There is a sensor at the front of the unit that brightens or dims the reticle to provide the best picture on the automatic setting, while the manual setting (from what I can tell) is fixed at full brightness.
Another thing to note, the manual is entirely in Russian, so I am guessing at many of the features here, though I was given a brief introduction to the operation of the scope from Veniamin when I went to pick it up.
Anyone else pick one of these bad boys up yet? They were just added to Interammo's inventory on the first, so I may be the first person to get one.
Range report (hopefully) to follow. I'm working the next seven days straight so it'll be a while before I can get this thing zeroed, but I'll be sure to provide a report as soon as I can.
All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase, hopefully more so once I take it out to the range. Of course, here come the pictures
